African Satellite World and Sat Gear

Of course! - Great solution, Digital Terrestial Reception, assuming of course that you are close to one of the - what is it - 6 - digital terrestial transmitters in Kenya. I think quite a few people on this site who live in Kenya acutally live in areas which at the present time are not able to get DTT, DVBT signals from SIGNET or any of the allied providers, and they are searching for a low cost, preferably free, way of getting the standard Kenya mix from a Satellite transmission. Unfortunately, they do not find it easy! Hence they are keen to see what the possibilites are on satellite. DVBS2

Ahem..... I stand corrected Señor North...

If the main aim is to get the Kenya Mux, NTV, Citizen, K24 etc, it might be more cost effective, but admittedly not in the true spirit of ASAS, to just slip across the border to Tanzania, grab one of the new AZAM Decoders and viewing cards with a years subscription, the whole thing will cost you less than Kshs 10,000, bring it back to Kenya and connect it up to your dish aimed at 10E and the Azam Channels. All of the Kenyan Broadcasters are together there, except KBC I think.

Thanks for the info, the Azam package is impressive for the cost it is actually a cheaper way of watching Discovery science ,Natgeo Gold and MTV

There is a saying, "do not run before you can walk". I agree with the advidce, go for Nilesat 201 and Eutelsat 7W, those sats have 800 channels, 100 or so mostly in english language, great sports, movies etc. BUT, if you are new to the ASAS game, with only a 90cm dish, you are going to have a challenge to nab that bird! - perhaps you are very clever and very lucky and it will all come together. My advice would be first of all, walk before you run, try to tune Eutelsat 7A at 7 degrees East. This is fairly close to Nilesat 201 etc, so you will not need to change your set up by very much. Sure, the channels you will get FTA on 7A are not as great as on Nilesat 201, Eutelsat 7W, but they are watchable, Muvi TV from Zambia, Mauritus TV, often with good coverage of English Premier League (I think). The bird at 7E is easy to nab with a 90cm dish in Nairobi. Once you have done that, you will feel you have accomplished something, watch channels from Zambia and Mauritius and feel good, gain confidence! - then , slowly and carefully shift your small dish upwards very slightly and try to get Nilesat 201, Eutelsat 7W, and tune in over 700 channels!

this sound frankly nice and hope to start on 7A, pliz give the strong tpfs to nab this bird, i have priorly been hooked to 906,904 and nss 12 so i have some clue to this birds

Ah, but if you have already tracked 3 birds, then you are a pro! - perhaps no need to start with 7A, but I found it hard enough to get Nilesat on a 1.2 m offset.

Strong transponders to initially track 7A are 12520/H/27500 - the Zambian channels, MuviTV and Africa Unite, for which I get strength=83% and Quality =90% on my SRT 4950H with a 90cm offset, you can also try 1720/H/30000, CRTV

All those ASAS friends who were busy deleting or putting in passwords to avoid the 'Hustler' XXXXX channel showing up on Eutelsat 7A need not worry any more. That channel is now encrypted!

My friend I tried nabbing both Nilesat and Eutelsat 7w but ended up nocking only Nilesat 201 ,I don't know what and where was my mistake with a 135 cm offset dish. Show me how should I move on .Location Dar es salaam.

I am not the expert here, but further back in this forum somewhere you will find a discussion on this topic, how to get Nilesat 201 and Eutelsat W7A together. The footprint is even further away from Dar than it is from Nairobi, so it might be very diffiicult to get the two birds with same dish, try to get Eutelsat W7A by tilting your dish every so slightly, you might lose Nilesat 201, but then you can try to tilt it back by an even smaller amount, and you might get both birds.

Boy after hitting green on 201, change your meter to 7w,tp and move slowly but not too much then hit green as well, move back, and there you, do that and report back.

Are you sure you pole mount is perfectly upright? i remember one member on this forum from your location had some issues with some tps from 7W location and the problem was the pole mounting.
in fact with a 135cm offset, you could have both (7degrees west), 7degrees East(7A) and (Amos 5) on same dish running at the same time, this is my current setup ( 7A LNB should be in the right lnb holder, after hitting green, position th Nilesat LNB about 1ft above and slightly foward, you should get quality on fox movies of about 70% considering that you are farther away from the beam, then place the Amos 5 LNB about 10cm below the 7A lnb and slightly foward. Good luck bro!. my location is Kampala Uganda.

Any Mamber in Kampala knowing where i can get 8ft PF dish? i am urgently in need of one on Thursday next week, i am going for Digiturk (Nat geo TP) in full gear with a Stargold fuji . Any member pointing me to the right place to have get it is welcome. SOFAR, I AM SEEING 6FT ON THE MARKET.
