African Satellite World and Sat Gear

Thanks bro, replaced the diseque with a better brand and the improvement was remarkable. Solution for screen shots worked too. My next project is to increase my BBC Percia signal quality from 61% to about 70%. ASAS symptoms still very high!

My BBC Persia clicks btwn 77% & 78% on a gud day.....it all went to major shake down of the reflector and adjusting the LNB holding arms to get the right foal length and beam width hitting the LNB... 🙂

Am sorry but this is not the place for an advert. This is the third time you placed this advert in a span of less than 10 days. This is a place where we FTA Enthusiasts share idea, new findings, latest sat gear etc.

What befell the famous analogue receiver ALFAGOLD; didn't they switch to digital? Remember the days of MBC2 where every one was looking for it in order to nab the analogue signal? indeed much has changed in FTA.

The last box a saw was a digital (not hd) receiver mpeg-2 make ad-7300 and ad7400. The boxes lost out to Astrovox the likes of 400IR probably due to no patches for biss key.

i used to use AD-7300 for SAT hunting without tv set as the receiver display screen showed the signal quality/strength. To date i've not seen any receiver with that.

Hello everyone. I am new here and have been reading and learning a lot from this forum. I have one quick question: with a wiremesh C band prime focus dish (the old D*s*t*v* ones) and a supermax 777 lnb in Nakuru, what can I receive? I have already gotten 68.5E but im looking for even more interesting satellites. Got ws6906 meter and a host of lnbs including stargold single, eurostar qp4 quad, eurostar universal black single and also a 90cm offset which I used to use for 36E but looking for new channels. Tried Nilesat, came up with nothing. SES 5, got some channels on 90cm offset but not all tps. Advice will be highly appreciated...

PS: I have srt 4922 HD

Kungu,

Does the Ekurhuleni channel on Yamal 402 show wildlife full time

That's great Freddygas. on my 6ft pf, i get a max of 67%, 68% on bbc persia with samson twin. 130cm offset gave me a much less signal and i concentrated on improving the 6ft which improved from 60% to where it is now. Iam curious and i feel encouraged by your results to get back probably on the 130cm offset. what's your dish size and lnb type? Iam in Machakos which is not very far from your location and with similar tools as yours, i believe can get such strength. The only time to give up is after nabbing all the nailable sats. Big up man.

Freddygaz, kindly share photos of your "major shake down of the reflector" and other adjustments; the LNB you are using; dish size; etc. What is your quality level for the TP 11617V30000? It is the weakest on that Sat.

Am using a 150cm offset dish and ugrading to a 180cm or 240cm will yield great results....keep you posted...

QIMEU, That's great achievement. Around two weeks ago, I had installed a Samson Twin to a brand new 6ft Eurostar prime focus and got around 68-70% quality for BBC persia. I decided to experiment with a Stargold-Fuji LNB for prime focus. I was amazed to find an improvement of around 10% in all the TPs! with the BBC persia hitting 79%. The only TP that hasn't come up yet is the 11617V30000 (Nat Geo, History, etc) which is the weakest. All the other TPs are stable hitting quality of 60% and above on a clear day. Ensure no trees are in the way of the dish too.

The StargoldFuji (one with a long neck) costs around Sh.1600 (USD20). My conclusion is that the StargoldFuji works best with brand new dish. I tried it on a slightly dented 6ft Eurostar PF dish and it was outperformed by the Samson Twin on both 7E and 7W.

Congrats Guys, looking for this European Beam is the proverbial 'needle in haysack' story ,Do we have anybody who has nailed it in Nairobi with 120cm offset ( I have ultra black single LNB/Stargold Single LNB and srt 4950h) .Any more suggestions for us to watch out for

I am in Nampula the third largest city in Mozambique

This gives hope. You in Nampula Mozambique at latitude 15.7 south are further from the middle east than me in Lusaka at 15.4 South. If you you are enjoying nilesat there with a 2.4m I should be able to lock on it too with a similar Dish!

I have noted that after splitting a single lnb by a 2-way splitter and you tune to two different tps; one strong and the other weak, the weak tp goes off. What is the solution to this?

Had played down with the reflector and the arm supports from the convectional manufacturers default to get a good beam width illumination of the LNB thus increasing the signal strength by around 4% making it viewable on the weak transponders....

CONVECTIONAL

INVERTED

And now to the improved SIGNAL QUALITY taken between 11am and 2pm when there is a signal drop....

whats the make of the dish #
