African Satellite World and Sat Gear

2 day i come acrose x master 3g receiver , its a wonderful receiver, but d priz is high.location mombasa.

Sounds like a software issue. Do you remember the old COSHIP CDVB5668 Decoder by the now defunct GTV? Its software was designed to accept only the two GTV TPs and the FTA TPs available on 7East only! Guys looked for software to convert it into a useful FTA receiver for other Sats without success!
The Z*u*k*u owners know that FTA people would buy it as a cheap HD-MPEG4-DVBS2 decoder for other uses instead. Does it have a USB or other port (RS232) for future software upgrading? What is the price of the decoder only? Model? What other features, e.g., HDMI output or Card input? Thanks.

guys i need some help i live in nakuru and i have ben a great fan of fta how can i get any football channels her and national geographic pls help

I was fascinated by the idea as well, and had often wondered about it. Was it Freddygaz or Ftnash that mentioned two dishes with "matched feed", I wonder what Matched Feed means. The implication seems to be that if you set up two 130 cm offset dishes, each with their own LNB, to track the same satellite, and combine the two signals, you will get a stronger signal, stronger than the signal from each dish on its own. Am I understanding correctly? I wonder how you would combine the two signals, just splice the two co-ax cables together?

I did get you clearly.....what I ment is matching your feed horn i.e. conical for offset dish or flat scalar ring for a primefocus to get a good illunination og the dish.....Mr.Kungu had earlier expounded on the subject

Alternatively your idea of combining two dishes i.e. two 130cm dishes to achirve a surface area eaqual to 160cm is viable......
This method has been used by NASA in space astronomy in studying distant stars and galaxies where by a number of dishes like 100 in number spread across a field pointing on one direction to maximise the signal in terms of light bouncing on the reflectors.....the downside in this method id you require an almost a super computer to process the signal delay so as not to degrade the sugnal......and alot of math involved....

Another way you can combine only two dishes in a simple method bt nids patience tho I havent tried it.....
Its called an offset gregorian feed antenae....the idea is so practical for an ASAS victim 😉

Hello all. I'm a newbie here and really thrilled to join. I recently installed the Al Jazeera Full sports package. My challenge is an unstable signal quality on the Al Jazeera sports channels, CNN, BBC,Euronews, etc. Their signal quality is at 60% but crack badly in very light rain, the decoder actually hangs. (The FTA movie channels remain stable however with signal quality of about 80%, even when it rains).
I'm hooked to a 130cm Eurostar offset dish
LNB type is Starlife universal twin N.F. 0.1db
Cable length is about 15 metres
Decoder is the Astrovox 9000
My location is City Cabanas area, Nbi.

I'd appreciate any tips that would help me get a higher/stable signal quality in rough weather. lagat, how are u able to get 80% signal quality on the JSC Sports channels?

Hi , my dish is 130 cm and I use a Fuji lnb. I would advise you to look for a Fuji lnb, it will give u good results. With 130 cm you can get 80% stress free. Take your time and realign your dish and lnb gradually until you get a signal quality of 65% in Nat Geo hd or discovery hd as they have the weakest transponders on Nilesat and the rest will be ok even with slight afternoon showers.

Thanks Msondaa; I think I was using the wrong LNB and am now motivated to try once more. By the way have you ever tried the Digiturk package on 7E with the same setup?

rescan YAHSAT for MBC channels. HD Channels left but SD ones on board and it is free according to lyngsat. i will try later in the day and report.

Thanks Lagat. I will get the Fuji lnb and post the results here. On another note, are you able to nab JSC Sports+1,+2,+3,+4 & +5?

Cheers.

Thanks. Always wondered why the operators of MBC would run scrambled HD channels alongside clear SD channels while the difference in picture quality of both isnt that huge. It just didnt make logical sense according to me

Guys, Am getting audio for scrambled AD Star World HD on Nilesat. Anyone else?

MBC HD channels on yahsat was operated by OSN but it looks like they have lost interest in putting their channels there.

The other possible explanation as to why MBC group put SD Channels on a satelite (YAHSAT) heremarked for HD channels, Is because their HD channels are commerciallised by pay-tv like osn, my-HD,ADD, ADTV and others
