I do understand that we both have different perceptions about a lot of things. And I realise that no one is ever at his best when his mind tells him that his intelligence is being lurked.

So! Let love reign, we can't all believe in one and one thing alone. Let's be gentle! As some of us, especially me, I feel being robbed having a bill on my list for TV programa yet I only get time to watch in the evening, but i may happily pay 50USD just for an Lnb that may even under perform but won't mind and may even report for others to learn that this and that does this, while another would say, that is irrational, IPTV is better as you only watch at your own appointed time and no need for so and so!

For your information, FTA is not totally free. The dishes we have accumulated are worth a fortune not to mention the many receivers, switches, etc plus the time we put in hunting for elusive sats. Also power consumed by these gadgets must be taken into consideration.
So you can crawl back under your BUD dishes to watch your favorite channels on your old Strong SRT 4669 hooked to a Sony Trinitron TV with your vintage VHS player while listening to music on your audio cassette tape player while checking the net on your vintage PC running on Windows 95.

Yup! I encourage constructive arguments. My views get challenged here everyday especially by Mr. GIDEN but he does it using facts and am okay with it.

The issue with Aaaaarrghhh (and hes not poor by the way he has a very nice balcony for his dishes) was sorted and we're in good terms. I've even helped him find a second hand 8ft he wanted.

I agree you're smart and futuristic with your iptv so no more need for arguments.

Fine you see the problem is if a person goes posting misleading opinions and doesn't want correction, forum members risk making poor decisions with financial implications.

For instance if you're telling people to throw away their dishes because satellite is coming to an end while for example Nilesat 201 7w was launched just recently in 2016 and is expected to last till around 2030.. it is very misleading. I can't stand back and watch that. Even if you call me know it all. It's for the benefit of good members of the house. Id rather delete my account than allow it happen.

There is no purpose for this thread if false information is allowed to go uncorrected. Even if we risk hurting egos, we should always insist that info be properly backed up and verified possibly with pictures.

Very many people come here for info and we should at least strive to provide good accurate info.

I agree it high time we called a truce on the current exchange. I plainly find it distracting!
What pains me most is that the forumers involved have been very instrumental in shaping fta discussions;

In recent months, I have learnt a lot from freq on a very wide variety of issues ranging from semi-motorizing a dish to spotting fta tps. His prompt, timely and detailed responses to queries raised by other members is, to say the least, unparalleled.

I've equally been here long enough to recall that 3 or so years ago (how time flies!) dejumbo had kept the forum informed on the performance of a very large unique offset dish he had acquired at a time when digiturk was in a recession. Without referring to those pages behind, I vividly remember those lively photos of the dish.

Looks to me that we have a dejavu here; Don't we all remember the push and shove we had regarding whether accessing JF would be better through Whatsapp or the old-fashioned PC way? Well, I think both technologies are surviving (if not thriving). Never mind for a period, the discussion nearly dried up here as folks took to Whatsapp.(For the record I never went for the new technology -and I hope you don't call me a Luddite-, yet I thought it would be appropriate for folks on the move).

It's thus my considered opinion that somehow IPTV and satellite Tv might as well co-exist. The history of mankind is a lesson that the more things change, the more they remain the same.

I remember WhatsApp almost killed the thread. That's why i took it as personal responsibility to make at least one post a day. And respond to all queries I can (it's very painful and frustrating asking a question and it's ignored by everyone) , add some humor to make the thread lively. And venture into new topics like Motorisation as it was getting boring discussing same old topics.

I couldn't stand to see a thread that made me avoid monthly tv bills die just like that.

Unfortunately my frequent posts and insights which I generously share are earning me a name of "know_it_all" . I don't know much just that am more willing to suggest solutions. And I urge all members to do the same

I don't think it will get you much. If you have a stable relaible internet, I suggest you get an android box.

Elite poor is someone living just above the poverty line. Earns around $ 800 a month. Maybe living in a 2 bedroom flat. You can't call them rich. They're 'Middle class' by African standards because of the abject poverty in Africa. In the west theyd be considered poor. They have a few coins to spare but rather than saving they spend it on recurrent expenses like internet, tv bills etc.

I always view iptv as a "cool kid" thing. But that's just my view.

I could have free unlimited internet but surely there are better things to do with internet other than watching TV.

FTA is free. You could leave it running the whole day and night. No buffering. No worring about safcom or z#ku. Nothing its just you and your big dish. Youre your own technician. If you want movies/series you can always download and watch at free time.

It all boils down to priority, for sure some of those things that bear no returns just end up utilising funds that would have been invested in something worthy!

For me being here its just my thing, I am enthrilled whenever I succeed in hunting new channels, then I get familiar with them,I hunt again.
My ears itches whenever I hear FTA trends and may leave the meal on the table when Munyaga says certain direction has A and B . So you see, nothing else!

That's it, our thing, our joy when we succeed to down them .....enjoy them for free when they last.
