African Satellite World and Sat Gear

Some fta installation/ equipment seller cartels are just too greedy. Why would you make someone buy a whole 8ft just to create market when they could use 130cm?

Uttermost greed to make a kill plus ignorance on the part of the buyer. A little research never hurt anyone....

THE WORLD OF THE SATELLITE DISH IS ENDING SOON.

This is not a prophesy but a scientific fact. We shall be reading about it in books just like we hear of the audio cassette tape or the VHS video tape and their VCR decks.
We should start thinking of what to do with our precious collection of dishes before it is too late.

But before that dawn comes knocking we continue enjoying.....

We head to streaming or where now?

Satellite especially cband is more of a hobby. You don't get into FTA satellite to cut costs or because it's the coolest thing. Sat enthusiasts are hard wired nerds who will visit their dish at 2am in the night just to say hi. An addiction.
Such people don't drop their dishes for an android box.

And the last time I checked more satellites are still being launched. These are long term investments. (A geostationary satellite is expected to last at least 15yrs). They are launching them with both cband and ku band transponders.

In developed countries like US where internet penetration is at highest since 2006/7, there are people who still keep huge dishes for cband. Not everyone loves paying bills every month. Especially for stuff like TV.

And our internet affordability and reliability. aint getting anywhere near US soon. Wait until more people get into streaming and speeds gone drop like something else. (Currently it's for the middle class aka the elite poor)

Streaming HD television for a month would require you to foot around $ 50 a month on internet bills. Not to mention the shitty ISPs currently available selling you 5mbps but giving 512kbps.

Ain't dropping my big dish any time soon.

You are lucky you don't live in the UAE.
I hear they have banned dishes there especially your favourite BUD.
I suppose you are one of those who still have their collection of music cassette tapes. Possibly with an old PC running on Windows 95.
You are a "hoarder" mister !!!

Instead of resorting to calling names you could have just argued by facts.

Anyway this is a Satellite FTA thread you don't come and start belittling FTA enthusiasts on their dedicated thread you could have just started your iptv thread.

No need to. To give up our dishes that is...

Ha ha ha, I like the way you put it; the elite poor. They're the wannabes.

Elite poor is someone living just above the poverty line. Earns around $ 800 a month. Maybe living in a 2 bedroom flat. You can't call them rich. They're 'Middle class' by African standards because of the abject poverty in Africa. In the west theyd be considered poor. They have a few coins to spare but rather than saving they spend it on recurrent expenses like internet, tv bills etc.

I always view iptv as a "cool kid" thing. But that's just my view.

I could have free unlimited internet but surely there are better things to do with internet other than watching TV.

FTA is free. You could leave it running the whole day and night. No buffering. No worring about safcom or z#ku. Nothing its just you and your big dish. Youre your own technician. If you want movies/series you can always download and watch at free time.

Let me hold my comment!

Can pauxis combo C& Ku be used for eutelsat 8 b west and Nilesat

Jeshi Sports had been FTA on 64.2 for a while. Trump has said No more free stuff!

America First!

Whats the point? We live in East Africa! Let them Arabs squander their own oily money for nothing!

For me being here its just my thing, I am enthrilled whenever I succeed in hunting new channels, then I get familiar with them,I hunt again.
My ears itches whenever I hear FTA trends and may leave the meal on the table when Munyaga says certain direction has A and B . So you see, nothing else!

What's wrong with you ???
Are you suffering from some form of stress related to carrying heavy dishes? Or the ASAS in you has reached such alarming levels that any criticism makes you declare a "jihad" on your hobby's perceived enemies.
Can't you recognize that my comments were light-hearted?
I'm surprised you are declaring war for no reason, all because I said the end of the satellite dish is coming.
Since you love your dishes so much, maybe you will convert them into coffins for you and your family. You can then write in your will to be burried in one when you die.
An ASAS victim burried in a coffin made from his BUD dishes !!!
What a way to go. !!!

Mr cool kid no need for pointless arguments. Keep your iptv Chromecast and whatever Chinese clone dongles you've got and let us keep our dishes in peace. It's a free world.

You've been brainwashed by the big Telco corporates who keep telling you "streaming is the next big thing"

So you keep buying data guzzling gadgets and keep paying them for internet.

Why don't you serve your precious energy for better stuff, huh?

You are a real mjinga kabisa.
It is you who has been thoroughly brainwashed.
Years ago you are the mjinga who said that HD would not last and you would never buy an HD receiver. What is the situation now?
What makes you think that those sats being launched won't be reconfigured to beam something else. How about 4K UHD signals? How are you going to stop them?
The future is coming and with it, many changes and new technologies whether you like it or not.
My intention was just to start a discussion on the future of TV and how best we can prepare for it. But your primitive mind told you to start a "jihad" to protect your precious dishes which are actually tomorrow's junk.
For your information, FTA is not totally free. The dishes we have accumulated are worth a fortune not to mention the many receivers, switches, etc plus the time we put in hunting for elusive sats. Also power consumed by these gadgets must be taken into consideration.
So you can crawl back under your BUD dishes to watch your favorite channels on your old Strong SRT 4669 hooked to a Sony Trinitron TV with your vintage VHS player while listening to music on your audio cassette tape player while checking the net on your vintage PC running on Windows 95.

I will take your advice anytime mate.
I will not follow the mwendawazimu because we know where he is heading.
He is heading for the dustbin of history.
