African Satellite World and Sat Gear

African Satellite World and Sat Gear

Get a 24inch 36v actuator, a 36V DC output power supply and a Double pole double throw (DPDT) momentary switch then we'll discuss.
Not by using imported gear, made in Kenya, Jua Kali stuff.Improvised.

where can one get this localy
Locally ? I don't know anywhere..

I once went to a popular sat equipment shop and asked about a hh motor or an actuator. The guy stared at me blankly.. I explained " you see those dishes that move? Am asking about that thing that moves them..

He told me he's never seen a moving dish. He knows Satellite dishes are fixed forever and only get moved by wind sometimes...

"If you're asking me if I sell wind, I don't'' he concluded.

That was at a popular sat shop. The last resort if you needed any rare thing satwise.

If I put my mind to it I can motorise a small dish using a car windscreen wiper motor. It is already designed to swing from side to side without west/east limit sensors. So all I need is to fabricate rods to move the dish up and down.It won't remember position though.

Small dish maybe..60cm
Problem is wiper motors are designed to move wiper blades weighing about 0.75 kgs. Were talking about moving a 10 ft BUD at times against the wind. The movement need to be slow , continuous, (wiper motors are designed to jump from left to right and quickly)

uniform and for a long range (maybe 24inches) to cover more arc.. then you need to find a way of changing its rotary motion into a linear motion.

I am sure solutions can be found if we apply our minds to the problem.

It can be done.. but the expenses and the hustle of making one is equivalent to the cost and hustle of importing.. so unless you're doing it for the pride of having made one yourself while the they are importing you just import. Then there are parts like reed sensors and limit switches that cannot be made by hand..

Its on the regional beam. (Spot beam)
Thats the footprint

Yeah! I think Freg must be using an Lnb that ignores some of the tps! For me when I use Eurostar lnb or Titanium C1 pll. I only get hornsat chanells, wasafiand a bunch of Cambodia channels. But mostly when I put Gulf star lnb I hit all of them.

The tp is on the 'global' beam as per flysat. Funny lyngsat don't even mention it..

I think am not getting it because my lnb skew is optimised for 68.5 . I use same lnb to catch 72, 75, 76, 78 by motorized movement.

If you are using Eurostar Lnbs or Titanium pll lnbs the TP won't show regardless of the maximisation! For me the TP only dance through when I use Gulf star lnbs.
Kindly check the lnb frequency ratings on the lnb sticker or box. Most Single solution lnbs get frequencies between 3.7-4.2Ghz (3700-4200) while normal lnbs 3.4-4.2 (3400-4200). Some old version OCS lnbs can take the whole frequency range 3.4-4.2.Ghz.
While at it Cband signal is affected by WIFI or Cell because frequency range of Wi-Fi lies within the band ie 2.4-5.4GHZ.

Thanks freq , my bad i skipped rechecking, yes that frequency is on global. But I think some channels listed on Lyngsat were removed from the Tp but not yet updated. That satellite had many XXX channels when Thailand used to offer sex tourism but now most of them were removed as the country fought the trade.

Yes Giden! That's why I mentioned the above LNBS as among those that skip.

Bamba uplinking audioless and blank channels to 70b. Some of these capitalists ain't serious with their capitalism..
