#Steps448, USB Wi-Fi adapters in almost all satellite receivers models by Strong HD Africa are based on ChipSet RaLINK RT5370.Pls i mean the possible configuration on srt 4950E so that the dongle will be visible to the decoder.
thanks for the info man was thinking of buying one in nai or a free sat but uve just made me fear will now have to google about what to look out for when buying an original oneAll ASAS beware;
Alpha sound electronics River road is selling FAKE strong SRT 4955
Bought one from them. The damn thing looses all data on channels when you switch it off. You have to do a blind scan every time you put it on
Then the serial number on the decoder is different from that found on the system information screen..
It can't install updates. Tried severally to install update 2.37 & 2.38. both failed
It reboots whenever it likes.
When you try recording, the recorded file becomes 1gb in size at times even if jst several seconds long.
Just thought you should know..
This is just wicked. Thanks for the alert. Did you try to return it?All ASAS beware;

Unless of course if they subsidize stocks from illegal sources. Also my friend understand strong doesn't take responsibility for you trying to install "unauthorized" software. Which you are currently doing. I would also like to enquire which patch you tried because i highly doubt Alfa would sell fake decoders.This is not right in all spheres. They are an appointed dealer in Kenya for Strong products, as this email I got from Strong indicates. You should send a complaint to Strong.
Thank you for your interest in our products. Yes indeed we have several dealers located across Kenya. STRONG dealers in Kenya :

Yes I could have been wrong for trying to install unauthorized software. But that was after I got recommendations from this forum. Other ASAS are successfully installing it anyway so what is the problem with mine?Unless of course if they subsidize stocks from illegal sources. I still think you should alert Strong about the other technical anomalies of the decoder (assuming it's genuine). They need to be aware. Actually, send them the serial numbers and they will advise.Yes I could have been wrong for trying to install unauthorized software. But that was after I got recommendations from this forum. Software stories aside. Somebody explain the inconsistencies on serial numbers, the regular loss of data, inability to record, and random reboots.
Maybe it is a Genuine one from Strong (Alfa Sounds Vindicated) . But apparently Strong have started producing sub standard products for the African market at a lower cost. Something SONY has been doing for a while
These Asian manufacturers know consumer protection laws in Africa are non existent or weak. So they just dump their poor products here after building their Brand Name
Better safe than sorry go for earlier models of Strong or try other Brands
Ok I will. what are their correct contacts?I still think you should alert Strong about the other technical anomalies of the decoder (assuming it's genuine). They need to be aware. Actually, send them the serial numbers and they will advise.
I would actually dare you to try and get an official patch from strong website and try installing. That way you will confirm whether it's genuine. I can't vouch for anyone because they are not the original producers.I still think you should alert Strong about the other technical anomalies of the decoder (assuming it's genuine). If this is the Test for Authenticity, then my decoder actually passed itI would actually dare you to try and get an official patch from strong website and try installing. That way you will confirm whether it's genuine. I can't vouch for anyone because they are not the original producers.
