Pls i mean the possible configuration on srt 4950E so that the dongle will be visible to the decoder.

Fellow forum members,
This is an appeal and a reminder to all of us to use discretion in sharing some of information here. Please remember that this still remains a public forum that's accessible to all and sundry. Your and my continued enjoyment of the goodies offered solely depends on how loud or quiet we're are shouting about them. Kindly.

Thanks,at 4950 h,audio for Stream ?
#X-PONDER, Absence of Audio on Stream maybe as a result of the broadcaster although when the tp became active initially audio was present.

Alternatively KFS on Astra 2f @28°e is currently FTA. The programming is primarily based on Ghanaian presenters and the broadcast schedule is very different from what is viewed on the digital terrestrial platform, DVB t2.

#Steps448, USB Wi-Fi adapters in almost all satellite receivers models by Strong HD Africa are based on ChipSet RaLINK RT5370.

Until recently ChipSet MediaTek MT7601 was adopted in Strong srt4950h HD s\w v.4.17p. Unfortunately in the latest and recent s\w v.4.18p MediaTek MT7601 USB Wi-Fi drivers were omitted. The decoder now only accepts ChipSet RaLINK RT5370 USB Wi-Fi adapters.

You can know the precise USB Wi-Fi adapter to use on Strong srt4950e; on the RCU press MENU >>>INFORMATION.

All ASAS beware;

Alpha sound electronics River road is selling FAKE strong SRT 4955
Bought one from them. The damn thing looses all data on channels when you switch it off. You have to do a blind scan every time you put it on

Then the serial number on the decoder is different from that found on the system information screen..
It can't install updates. Tried severally to install update 2.37 & 2.38. both failed

It reboots whenever it likes.
When you try recording, the recorded file becomes 1gb in size at times even if jst several seconds long.

Just thought you should know..

Unless of course if they subsidize stocks from illegal sources. Also my friend understand strong doesn't take responsibility for you trying to install "unauthorized" software. Which you are currently doing. I would also like to enquire which patch you tried because i highly doubt Alfa would sell fake decoders.

Yes I could have been wrong for trying to install unauthorized software. But that was after I got recommendations from this forum. Other ASAS are successfully installing it anyway so what is the problem with mine?

Software stories aside. Somebody explain the inconsistencies on serial numbers, the regular loss of data, inability to record, and random reboots.

Maybe it is a Genuine one from Strong (Alfa Sounds Vindicated) . But apparently Strong have started producing sub standard products for the African market at a lower cost. Something SONY has been doing for a while

These Asian manufacturers know consumer protection laws in Africa are non existent or weak. So they just dump their poor products here after building their Brand Name

Better safe than sorry go for earlier models of Strong or try other Brands

I still think you should alert Strong about the other technical anomalies of the decoder (assuming it's genuine). They need to be aware. Actually, send them the serial numbers and they will advise.

Ok I will. what are their correct contacts?

I would actually dare you to try and get an official patch from strong website and try installing. That way you will confirm whether it's genuine. I can't vouch for anyone because they are not the original producers.

If this is the Test for Authenticity, then my decoder actually passed it

I bought it with with software version 1.32 of November 2015

Went to strong-technologies.com downloaded version 2.34 of August 2017, it installed with no problems.

Software it cant install are 2.37 & 2.38 of Sept 2017 which am told are "unauthorized" Never mind other Users are able to install them anyway

So its "Genuine" as per this criteria.

Then why is it acting up? Loosing data, randomly rebooting etc
