A reason why one visa for tourists is not an option for Tanzania

A reason why one visa for tourists is not an option for Tanzania

Labda turudi nyumba kidogo.

What is so special in Kenya that watalii lazima wapitie pale kabla ya kuja Tanzania?

Mpaka Prince William alishaenda kusoma Kiswahili Kenya. Why not Tanzania? Tuna kasoro gani hasa?
That's another topic all together but today's topic is one visa issue and their continuing insistence on Tanzania to accept!

That's another topic all together but today's topic is one visa issue and their continuing insistence on Tanzania to accept!

This is exactly where the issue lies; we know where the problem is, but instead we behave like the proverbial ostrich by digging our heads in the sand…too unfortunate I must say

That's another topic all together but today's topic is one visa issue and their continuing insistence on Tanzania to accept!

If this is addressed, we won't even be here discussing about the visa thing because there would be not threat from Kenya. Badala ya ku-address the underlying causes of the problem and try to fix it altogether, tunatafuta cover up solutions na kudai the underlying problem is a separate topic altogether. These zima moto solutions won't get us anywhere.

..ninachotaka kusikia mimi ni strategy gani, long term, and short term, zitumike kuhakikisha kwamba Tanzania is the leading tourist destination in East Africa and beyond.

..Tanzania ina kila kitu ambacho Kenya ina-offer and even more. Ndiyo maana nikasema, in the spirit of East African cooperation, Kenyan tourist companies should open shops in Tanzania. They should advertise and market Tanzanias tourist attractions, they should pay taxes in Tanzania, and employ Tanzanians.

..sisi wa-Tanzania pia we have a role to play in this which I will come to explain later when time allows.

This article was written by an intellectual coward!...its seems Tanzanians will never stop complaining..whenever you find yourselves in a situation that requires you to flex your intellectual muscles, you look for excuses to exit from the intellectual battle-zone.
Tanzania stands to benefit a lot from one single visa thing..the only problem you have is fear!..you cannot position Tanzania properly on the world's Tourism market....and this is due to lack of skill and poor marketing strategies you have adopted. When we market East Africa as a single tourist destination with one visa issued, this will provide variety of tourism products that can never be equaled anywhere in Africa..in fact destinations like South Africa,Egypt and Morocco will have a big reason to worry, since this will be the preferred destination offering a variety of products with less stress.Again the cost of marketing EAC as a single tourist destination will be very cheap and a lot investors will be attracted , since we will need infrastructure (roads, hotels, airports, water etc)that will accommodate the growing number of visitors..this will in turn lead to economic growth and development in the region, with millions of jobs being created.Lets look at the Big Picture and stop being selfish.
You pride yourselves to be bread basket of the region..with the increase in numbers of visitors, they will need food which you grow,..you have the finest and ecologically sound parks and reserves that will make Tanzania to b the first destination to any visitor coming to EAC....you have the finest lakes that can attract many sporting events, adventures and again you have the largest land mass( the whole of the rest of East African countries combined) ....that offers an opportunity to have more hotels, resort cities etc that will make Tanzania a place to land first whenever you are going to East Africa!
Stop complaining and using our success as your excuse of failure..KQ is where it is because of the commitment of the Kenyan govt and its people who religiously invest in it, plus a well trained Kenyan workforce that makes KQ truly "The Pride of Africa"..Tanzania still has an opportunity to do the same.
For your information we are going to have a single tourist visa whether you like it or not!..the Tanzanian Tourism Industry is run by Kenyans..its our intellectual finesse we have in marketing Tanzanian Tourism products that you take pride in..most managers of tour firms in Tanzania are Kenyans so we will have our way whenever we want it.
Instead of complaining you should find a way of benefiting from the single Visa,if attracting tourist will be a problem then lets solve that and we can teach you avenues of navigating the problem..but sharing of the visa revenues forget it! i can not spend my money to attract a tourist to East Africa via JKIA na expect me to share the spoils with you...this shows how lazy you have have been and why you will continue lagging behind when the rest of East Africa is moving ahead.
Have a look at Rwanda or Burundi..they are so disadvantaged in EAC but never will you hear any single complaint from them regarding EAC!..since you are good in songs let your bongo kids officially make your regular complains songs...bongo flava style!!Tanzanians should stop being intellectual weaklings and take the bull by its horns! Stop fearing that we kenyans will have an advantage over you because already we are better than you and nothing strange has happened to you..you are already used being at the bottom..so stop being an obstacle to this region's development initiatives..since you are proving not to add any value to its development....cry babies of East Africa!!!!!

u sour the whole intellectual debate by starting with personal attacks! I haven't mentioned an individual but discussed the matters at hand and negativity the Kenyan institutions play on the course of their pushing things down Tanzanians' throats! Tell me why can't we benefit now with visa fees if at the moment Kenyan companies can still bring their tourists across the border? why cancelling that lucrative revenue source to please Kenyans? don't u think Tanzania has to let her resources being recognized first as hers before marketing them as a block?

KLM made what KQ is today and not Kenyan people when they took the airline all the managerial position were occupied by their people! And till today those technical position r occupied by them!

A looser with pain talking then why not opening the Bolongoja gate or why not administering the one visa thing u whining about? I hope ur attitude as Kenyan is on display her
e! Nothing new...if u have marketing skills why not beating SA on numbers of tourists and u r blessed to have KQ?

If tanzania resolves to do this, it is blindly aping their Sadc counterparts especially Angola, which is currently struggling to starve and subject part of its local populace to poverty. It is charging exorbitant prices on travel visa, hotel bookings and other Services to curve out an economic footing and currently, Luanda is the most EXPENSIVE city in the world to dwell in and do business. Tanzania is a country that is highly dependent on hydrocarbons and charging high exorbitant tourist visa price or even doubling is not a good multiplier effect strategy. This move will chase would be foreign expertise and visitors and is not healthy for an economy that is less and less vibrant like tanzania's .

R u serious? we don't export hydrocarbons where did u get that assumption?
Exorbitant how? don't u pay visa when u go to any of the Western countries? How about completely abolishing visa fee then for all countries that bring tourists? If the visa fee is exorbitant...?

Lonestriker,

..we need to look out for our national interests. if u call that "fear" una lako jambo.

..Let me give u an example: Kenya occupies 6% of lake Victoria, wakati Tanzania has 49%. sasa Kenya wakisema tufungue mipaka ya Lake Victoria na sisi tukakataa,is simply is protecting our resources, not being isolationists.

Which national interests are you talking about?National natural resources are there to be exploited for the benefit of the whole society otherwise we have no right to even claim that they are ours.Frankly speaking we are doing a disservice to the entire region considering all the natural resources at our disposal.East Africans should have been flocking here for commercial reasons,we ought to be the center of prosperity, but where are we?.Are you nou tired of this 'potential' talk that we keep yapping about? I believe we can go out and fight with Rwandese,Ugandans and Kenyans instead of always retreating to isolation and creating inferiority complex to our citizens that kenyans are far ahead of us and so we can not join them. Isolation when the trend is globalization is nothing short of pure nonsense-class A stupidity.

Yes but not by a foreigner who will not be paying taxes to the coffers of the Government that overseas the whole society! Tell if Kenyans will be allowed to fish all over the lake how will we get the revenues take it u fish 50 tons everyday! Will there be a mechanism by which the daily catch will be divided under the ratio 49% to Tanzania, 6% to Kenya and 45% to Uganda? These r serious qns over here no one is pro-free riding over-here...!

If not, can you tell me what is the major export earner for tanzania? then you want to liken yourselves to the west, why? by doing this, you are not improving, but adding bottlenecks, as I have earlier said your economy is making modest progress with regards to growth that is above 6.5 mark. Therefore that is not the road I would suggest for you.

Did you know that despite the natural resources we have in EA like games reserves, East african tourism is still underperfoming, being surpassed by countries like singapore thailand, Indonesia, yet this countries have no game reserves? As far as I know these countries only have their impressive infrustructure and rapid industrialization to show. Hence the conclusion of all this is, countries must gain from tourism by undescoring the need for effective research and marketing within and without the countries without which, countries in the middle east will surpass us while we continue singing about wildlife in the plains of the savannah and the kilimanjaro.

mnhhhh...i guess we have a long way to go with this EAC thing...all i can see here is a bunch of foreigners speaking and writing the imported languages while we don't even think of having our EAC Language....TUCHAGUE LUGHA MOJA YA KUJADILI MAMBO YETU...na propose kiswahili...then tuanze kujadili matatizo yetu ya ndani kisha tuje kujadili matatizo yetu kama jumuiya then baadae tutajadili matatizo yetu kama jumuiya ili tuweze kuwashinda wapinzani wetu....naamini mumenielewa wana wa EAC.

so u believe Tanzania can't grow at 10% on standing alone? I do believe can and that's why i said TZ agenda has to be to realize her own growth! as for hydrocarbons being major export for Tanzania, i simply do not know where do u come with that info. pls back up ur argument with a source!

When I say hydrocarbons, I mean anything that has carbon as a backbone in its composition. Or I would have said oil/petroleum. I also did not say that Tanzania would not grow at ten p.c at the right environment, every country has its own agenda when it comes to the economy. the issue here is that the capacity to make it grow at such a pace is dependant on several factors. on the tourism front, however, it will be a setback to set double visas.
