The Uganda Police Force has completed the construction of 70 police stations across the country as part of efforts to expand its presence at the grassroots level and improve access to security services.
The development is part of the government’s wider programme to establish police facilities closer to communities, especially in sub-counties that previously lacked permanent security posts.
Police leadership says the new stations will help address challenges such as long distances to police services, delayed response to emergencies, and limited coordination between communities and law enforcement agencies.
The facilities are expected to strengthen community policing by enabling officers to work closely with residents, gather intelligence, and respond more effectively to crime and security concerns.
The force has also indicated that the expansion is aimed at improving the welfare and working conditions of officers by providing better accommodation and operational spaces.
The move comes as Uganda continues efforts to enhance security infrastructure and ensure that every community has easier access to policing services.
