Tanzanians to rub shoulders with Arsenal fans at Emirates
By DAILY NEWS Reporter, 3rd December 2010 @ 12:00, Total Comments: 0, Hits: 20
A DAR ES SALAAM resident, Alkarim Shamshodin Habib has secured a rare opportunity to attend the Barclays English Premier League match between Arsenal and Everton after winning the lottery organized by the Barclays Bank Tanzania Limited.
Habib and other two previous winners will rub shoulders with Arsenal supporters at the Emirates Stadium in London, when the Gunners host Everton for the Premier League second leg match on February 1, next year.
"The first three first prize winners will travel in a group, with their companions and will go to witness the Arsenal versus Everton match on the 1st of February 2010-a home game for Arsenal," said Elizabeth Mayengoh, the Barclays Bank Kinondoni Branch Manager.
"We introduced the lottery in order to provide the Tanzanians with an opportunity to watch the Premier League matches after realising the majority are good followers of English football," she added.
It was a day to remember for Habib as he also won a Plasma flat screen. The promotion is targeted at building the Bank's retail customer base and also giving a chance to customers who are football fans the chance to watch live matches in England.
It involves Barclays Bank customers with the account dubbed premier life banking. Barclays Bank has been associated with the English Premier League since the year 2001 with Barclaycard, a business arm or Barclays Bank, sponsoring the League for 3 years.
In September, the bank launched seven products for promoting the English Premier League, in which lucky customers will get various products including DSTv subscription and fully paid trip to Britain to watch a match.
