Frederick Mpendazoe holds a Master's Degree in Environmental Pollution Control from the University of Leeds in U.K and Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering from the Dar Es Salaam University in Tanzania.
He also attended and was awarded certificates of attendance in the following disciplines: Water Resources Management (Sweden), Environmental Economics and Policy Analysis (USA), Project Management (Netherlands), Industrial Energy Auditing ( Czech), Anaerobic Treatment of wastewaters (Netherlands), Measures to Reducing ozone Layer Depleting substances (Japan), Hazardous Waste Management (Mauritius), Environmental Impact Assessment(Thailand) and Cane Sugar Production (Mauritius).
Frederick has sound working experience in the water and environment sector and worked in the water sector for 8 years since 1998. For 4 years since 2002 he worked as a Principal water Officer with the main responsibility of administering the water legislation Act and in particular responsible for water allocation, pollution control and protection of water sources in the country. While working with the Ministry of Water, he participated in the process of formulating the Water Resource Management Policy and Act.
Between June 1993 and June 1994, Frederick worked as a Project coordinator of the Lake Victoria Management Program Preparatory Phase which was funded by the World Bank.
During the preparatory phase of the World Summit on Sustainable Development (WSSD) in 2002 he worked with the African Ministerial council on Water (AMCOW) as a member of the Technical Advisory Committee of AMCOW the position he served until 2005.
In addition, Frederick worked as a Technical Advisor to the African Water Ambassador who was the spokesperson of the African continent at WSSD and the World Water Forum which took place in Johannesburg in South Africa and Tokyo in Japan in 2002 and 2003 respectively.
He was also a member of the Government Negotiation Team on equitable utilization of the Nile Waters by riparian countries, the position he served from 2003 to 2005.
Frederick has also worked in the environment sector for 8 years since 1989 to 1998 for 3 years at senior management levels including Director of Pollution Prevention and control and Acting Director General of the National Environment Management Council.
He also worked with UNDP as a UNV Pollution Specialist at Evelyn Hone College in Lusaka Zambia for 2 years from 1994 to 1996 and also participated as a research specialist in the inventory of greenhouse gas emissions in Tanzania and Zambia in 1993 and 1995 respectively.
Frederick's experience also includes being a Member of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Water, Livestock and Agriculture sectors for 2 years (2005-2007) and Mining and Energy sectors for 2 years (2007-2009).
Last but not least, he served as a Member Parliament for Kishapu constituency in Shinyanga region Tanzania between 2005 and 2010.
