An ambitious ‘safari city’ project aimed at promoting satellite towns around the fast-growing Arusha has taken off.The National Housing Corporation (NHC) project begins with the construction of modern residential quarters in Mateves, south west of the city.
At the launch of the project Saturday, Arusha Regional Commissioner Felix David Ntibenda said the new development would not only reduce congestion within the city’s central business district (CBD) but also avail modern living quarters to residents.
Construction of modern living quarters will soon commence in the first satellite city of Mateves, a short distance from the Arusha airport and the Dodoma Road, officials have said without revealing the cost.
NHC business development manager William Genya said civil work for the construction of 10 low-cost housing units will begin this week on the 559 acre plot earmarked for the purpose.
