This article has been largely inspired by Diamond Platnumz,East Africa's biggest music superstar whose success,overtures,fortunes and fame eclipses pretty much anyone else in this whole region's over-populated showbiz world.

First and foremost,Diamond Platnumz is NOT Tanzania's most favorite artiste,No,It's actually Ali Kiba. Yes,Yes...Ali Kiba is much much more loved across TZ than this drama-filled,antics-oriented,Reality-show-esque Diamond.

Tanzanians are largely reserved people...And also they're reputably civil,very courteous,polite and self-effacing...Things Diamond clearly isn't. And will NEVER BE. Not with that attitude,that fame,that amour-propre or that insatious ambition. And that's why Ali Kiba is still the Number One Entertainer amongst the much toned down Tanzanian populace.

But Diamond wouldn't care less...He's fiddled with pretty much every Tanzanian girl...Bedded Wema Sepetu and made a sensation out of it...And still continues to,to date.

How did Diamond rise to the top? And become the Numero Uno East African Superstar? Who commands thousands of people in his shows? Charges over Ksh.3 Million for appearances? Walks around with an entourage bigger than your whole community? And lives a life so fast,so furious Paul Walker would resurrect to admire it?

Simple: STRATEGY....Something Kenyan artistes clearly lack. And,seemingly,never will have.


For any random Kenyan artiste,from whatever genre of music,doing a single that is geared to excite drunk revelers at Club Edge is enough. Doing a jam that is simply geared to liven up a bunch of raved High Schoolers is all they need...Dropping a song that is cut to rock Nairobi is really the plan. That's all.

For a Kenyan artiste,all they seem to really want is to hit...Have the Number One song on Kiss FM Or One FM...Win a couple shows here and there...Have their song appear as the 'Beat Of The Week',be on the Safaricom Live roll call and ,ummm,meet Uhuru Kenyatta. That's all they want...that's why they are even singing in the first place...it appears.

Diamond realized that he needed more than just the little crowd that screams itself silly for him back in Tanzania...He realized that he needed Kenya,Nigeria,Tanzania,Uganda,South Africa..Everyone...to make it to the top.

To be the super super entertainer he is today,He had to sit. And STRATEGIZE.

And you can all see the fruits of the strategy...First he created a very close rapport with Kenyan artistes(Avril,Eric Omondi) and Kenyan Radio presenters(Mzazi Willy M Tuva) and Kenyan fans and BOOM! He CONQUERED Kenya.

Then he went for the Nigerians...Got to collabo with their hottest act,Davido on his hottest song and boom! He conquered Naija. He even went for Iyanya...And has now gone for Flavour. And is reportedly working with P Square. Damn! What a strategy!

After Naija,he went for Uganda. And not only dated but also IMPREGNATED their most famous woman,Zari Hassan...And Boom! He nailed UG.

He already nailed South Africa with those endless MNET-Based TV Live performances and the shoot of his Number One video down there...

And this kid is in no hurry to stop...

But what has the average Kenyan artiste done to reach out? What has the average Kenyan artiste done for or with Ugandans? Nigerians? Zambians?

Besides Wyre and maybe Sauti Sol...what other Kenyan artiste is busy trying to get deals,close performances,start friendships,initiate collaborations,date some girl from some African nation...

What are we doing to win this market? To conquer Country after Country after Country?

And Wyre,even after that Alaine collabo...And those International Awards,why did he slow down? Where did he go? Why is he still doing the same old Wyre thing? Why isn't he trying out a new sound? A new vibe? A new dance?

What has Nonini done to go pan-African? What is the King Of Genge Juacali doing to win over new nations? New fans? New crowds?

What steps are Rabbit taking to nail this shit? And lock this whole thing down?

Besides having a number one song on Homeboyz Radio...And appearing on The Trend to promote some new video,Are Kenyan artistes doing enough? Do they have a strategy? Whats their plan of rising to the top?

Besides having the Number One song on Moi Avenue dance floors...What are you doing next? What's your next plan? Mejja? Maddtraxx? When are You going to conquer the next Country? And the next? And the next?

Kenyan artists must sit and reevaluate their options...they must sit and replan their steps....Yes,You're a Kenyan superstar...Now,move on! Win some new crowds! Grab some new fans!

We know you already! We know you are the best...Good! Now,cross the borders...start something,date some famous girl,do some crazy thing,start some weird story,make some new celebrity friends....

Sometimes back,Nonini used to say that NO ONE should ever call him a local artiste. And that Kenyan media should STOP calling Kenyan artistes 'Local Artists'

Well,what choice do we have? You do local songs,hang out in local clubs,sing in local languages,appeal to local audiences,perform in local concerts,collabo with local stars,date some local b*tches and live local lives....It's really not OUR problem. It's Yours! Local artistes!

Come on now! You can do better...boys and girls.

I think Diamond is Tanzania's most favorite son in the entertainment game, and he's the best by far. Maybe it's true that he lives so fast for our liking, but most Tanzanians do understand that one may afford school, but class can't be bought.

So, dear neighbors, regardless of what y'all tryna paint, we love and support our boy. And we appreciate your love too.
