Which lens should I take ?

I need either of these lenses
55-300mm zoom lens
Or
50mm 1.8g prime lens for my nikon d3200

Which one is a better lens to start with??

Depends on the type of photography you shoot,for portrait,food,wedding , traveling and low light I prefer 50mm F1.8
