A PENTECOASTAL Church Pastor in Tarime, Francis Chacha appeared before the District Magistrate Court on Monday, charged with obtaining 10.8m/- by false pretences.

Before Magistrate Yusto Ruborogo, it was alleged that the cleric obtained the cash from a businesswoman, Ms Rusia Mkohi. The prosecutor Twaha Mtagabwa alleged in court that the accused committed the crime on August 20 at around 2pm at the church premises.

The prosecutor charged that the accused received the cash on an agreement that he would supply the businesswoman with timber. He further said that the accused did not fulfil the promise and later disappeared until last week when he was arrested.

The accused was remanded after failing to meet bail conditions which included securing two sureties with fixed assets. The case was adjourned to September 6 for another mention.
