University of Dar Es Salaam
College of Engineering and Technology
BUREAU FOR INDUSTRIAL COOPERATION (BICO)
TRAINING COURSE ON DATA
ANALYSIS BY USING SPSS/PASW SOFTWARE
Introduction
The skills to analyse project, research data into useful information is of paramount importance to all professions be it data from customer and/or marketing research or data from social-economic research conducted by Ministerial, Department and Agencies (MDAs), Local Governments Authorities (LGAs), Parastatal Organizations, Private Companies and Firms, Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) or Community Based Organizations (CBOs). SPSS is the leading computer package for analysing research findings statistically. The analysis of research findings will be forceful and more sounding, if presented using SPSS computer package. However, the use of this package requires basic understanding of statistics and research methodologies and more important the package itself. The course will be highly action-oriented and is designed to provide participants with these necessary skills on basic research methodology, and the use of SPSS Computer package using well elaborated case-studies. At the end of this training, participants are expected to be able to design researches and analyse findings into presentable format, and provide useful information to project/programme beneficiaries and stakeholders. The course is even more important to postgraduate students from all higher learning institutions.
Objectives
To improve skills of researchers in design of good data collections tools and to perform basics and advanced data analysis using SPSS Package
