Police in the East Kyoga Region have arrested two additional suspects in connection with the aggravated robbery and fatal shooting of Patricia Kokunda in Soroti City earlier this month.
The suspects, identified as Apolot Agnes, 41, and her mother-in-law Akello Salume, were arrested in the early hours of April 24, 2026, following ongoing investigations into the murder of Kokunda Patricia, which occurred on April 3, 2026.
According to police, the two are closely linked to the prime suspect, Emenyu David alias Olipong, who had earlier been arrested. Investigators say that after the murder, the suspects retrieved the firearm used in the crime from their residence and buried it in a nearby garden in an attempt to conceal evidence.
The duo reportedly fled their home shortly after but were tracked down and arrested. Upon interrogation, they cooperated with police and led officers to the recovery of 18 rounds of ammunition, which had been hidden in an empty engine oil container inside a grass-thatched kitchen.
Police say the suspects admitted to receiving and jointly keeping custody of the firearm, which had been handed to them by the prime suspect.
Preliminary investigations have also revealed a pattern of criminal activity within the family. Authorities confirmed that the father of the prime suspect, along with two of his sons, are currently on remand at Kitalya Government Prison on charges related to aggravated robbery.
Kokunda Patricia, the victim, was reportedly targeted for robbery and shot dead on Good Friday. She operated a mobile money business and was also involved in cattle trading, making her a likely target for attackers seeking cash.
