According to National Transport and Safety Authority which confirmed a fatal road crash incident that occurred on Monday evening 09th March, 2026 at Malaha, near Lugulu town, along the Webuye–Kitale Road. Preliminary reports indicate that two (2) motorcycle riders traveling in opposite directions collided, resulting in both riders dying on the spot.

Tragically, a trailer from Kitale direction towards Webuye lost control upon reaching the scene of the accident, rammed into members of the public who had gathered to assist with rescue efforts.

As a result of the incident, fifteen (15) people have been confirmed dead, eighteen (18) sustained serious injuries and are receiving treatment at Webuye District Hospital while three(3) have been treated and discharged.

An image circulating online depicts a lorry accident and is being claimed to show an incident that occurred in Webuye.
