Personal player ratings for tonight’s match against Borussia Mönchengladbach:
Ederson . - Barely anything to do all game, but maintained his concentration to keep the clean sheet with a big save right at the end
Walker . - Used his speed to good effect going forwards and backwards
Dias - Not too much defending to do, a few blocks here and there
Laporte - Similarly untroubled
Cancelo ️ - Key to both goals, unmarkable in his inverted full back role and even defended well too
Rodri . - On track for another perfect display, almost cost us a goal at the end but Ederson bailed him out
B. Silva - Goal, assist, ball retention and ridiculous energy. Great display
Gündogan . - Resisted the press very well, not quite as effective in the advanced areas but didn’t need to be
Sterling - Didn’t get much out of Bensebaini or Lainer, hooked early
Jesus - Linked the play from deep and grabbed the second goal, missed a few though
Foden - Always available for the wide switch, didn’t have his shooting boots on
Subs:
Mahrez . - Tricky feet brought compatriot Bensebaini plenty of problems, perhaps could have scored
Torres - Didn’t get on the ball very much, despite some dangerous forward runs
Agüero . - Looked very sharp on his return, one particular flick was highly impressive
