Once known as the Belgium Congo, Zaire. Now the democratic republic.

This huge resource rich nation now hold the position of poorest country in the world. It has been embroiled in wars,civil and with others nations since independence in 1960.

During the past two decades of conflit over 6 milion people have died and contnue to die at the rate of 45,000 a mount.This is not only attributable to war but its fellow travellers disease and famine.

DR-Congo has diamond, uranium, cobalt, tantalium, copper, and other valuable minerals. The wars, besides being caused by ethinic. hatred are inspired by control of the nations wealth.

The smuggling of coltan and cassterte, the ores of tantalum and tin have fueld the war in the eastern congo. As a kleptocracy, whatever can be appropriated by the government and its agents,is whether medicine or machinery.

MY QUESTION FOR YOU TODAY. WHAT DOES AFRICAN CONTINENT THINK ABOUT THIS COUNTRY?

Bila vigezo utajuaje cause of such poverty? na bila kujua cause utajibuje suali la mtoa mada? na hata hivyo vigezo vikija, bado kuna haja ya kuuliza kama ni vigezo sahihi vya ku-assess poverty. there is no argument kua DRC ni katika nchi masikini duniani, but depending on one's agenda unaweza ku-privilege vigezo hivi au vile. Nina uhakika kabisa leo ukiwauliza viongozi wa DRC how they rank, wanaweza kusema they are the country that has managed the most effort to get out of poverty (hata kama ni in vain) kuliko kusema they are the poorest. it is a matter of who says what, and for what reason.
