Senator Ted Cruz of Texas is ending his presidential campaign, according to his campaign manager, bowing to the reality that his crushing loss in Indiana all but assured the nomination of Donald J. Trump.

Mr. Cruz, who staked his bid in the Republican race on a message of conservative purity and religious faith, had suffered through weeks of setbacks as the primary calendar reached the Northeast, where Mr. Trump significantly expanded his lead.

But the senator had hoped to find more favorable terrain in Indiana, dashing across the state for over a week in a last-ditch effort to unify Republicans who viewed Mr. Trump’s success as an existential threat to the party.

Since entering the race over a year ago, Mr. Cruz had far exceeded most expectations, energizing hard-line conservatives and casting his toxic relationships with Senate colleagues as an asset as he railed against “the Washington cartel.”

After months spent embracing Mr. Trump as a worthy presence in the field, Mr. Cruz abruptly changed course weeks before the Iowa caucuses, where he outmaneuvered Mr. Trump to emerge as his chief rival for the remainder of the primary season.

The rest of the calendar was less kind. Early on, the Cruz campaign bet big on the South, hoping a sweep through the Super Tuesday primaries on March 1 would boost his delegate count. Though Mr. Cruz carried his home state of Texas, as well as Oklahoma, Mr. Trump’s victories elsewhere forced an instant scramble from the Cruz campaign to rejigger its playbook.

A triumph in Wisconsin last month, along with several wins in state delegate elections, briefly supplied hope that Mr. Cruz might yet best Mr. Trump in a floor fight at the Republican convention. But the tide turned quickly, beginning with Mr. Trump’s home state of New York.

All the while, Mr. Cruz wavered on a pledge to support any eventual Republican nominee.

In a final appearance on Tuesday morning, Mr. Cruz pleaded with voters to join him, calling Mr. Trump a “pathological liar” and “utterly amoral.”

If Indiana voted for his rival, Mr. Cruz said, “this country could well plunge into the abyss''

EARLIER TODAY : Cruz unloads with epic takedown of 'pathological liar,' 'narcissist' Donald Trump

(CNN)Ted Cruz on Tuesday unloaded on Donald Trump, accusing him during a news conference of being a "pathological liar," "utterly amoral," "a narcissist at a level I don't think this country's ever seen" and "a serial philanderer."
"He is proud of being a serial philanderer ... he describes his own battles with venereal diseases as his own personal Vietnam," Cruz said, citing a decades-old Trump appearance on "The Howard Stern Show."
The Texas senator's dramatic and deeply personal attack on Trump comes as polls indicate Trump is poised to claim victory in Cruz's must-win state of Indiana and follow accusations the front-runner made about Cruz's father.

The epic takedown of his opponent on an all-important voting day was extraordinary even by the standards of the 2016 campaign -- and quickly drew a scathing response from Trump.

"This man is a pathological liar, he doesn't know the difference between truth and lies ... in a pattern that is straight out of a psychology text book, he accuses everyone of lying," Cruz said as Indiana voters headed to cast their ballots.
"Whatever lie he's telling, at that minute he believes it ... the man is utterly amoral," Cruz told reporters. "Donald is a bully ... bullies don't come from strength they come from weakness."

I have a bad feeling that it isn't over just yet. The GOTP convention could be very ugly.

And why would they want deny the nomination to someone who's been democratically elected/ nominated?

That will reflect so badly on them and could very well mark the end of their party.

Because of that reason I don't see why Trump can't be the nominee.

And right now I won't even be surprised if he wins in November....I wrote him off so many times and ended up wrong.

Yeep!, true!

Trust me, am thinking the same, won't be suprised if he becomes POTUS

Now, they must nominate him. If they don't do that, then it's going to be like the 1968 Chicago Democratic convention. Riots. And may be what Old Romney's prediction will come to pass. I still believe Trump has no chance of winning in November. But I am not going to bet like the fool who promised to walk naked from Kibaha to Posta. BTW, we are still looking for the bozo. Alitoa ahadi mwenyewe.

My bad, I under estimated Sanders, he won Indiana?!...wookay!

The dynamics might have changed but, may be Hillary needs the two Davids, Axelrod and Plouffe, brains behind Obama's 2 wins. Or, at least their likes.

Cos this going on right here?!,...ain't looking good for her, especially in November.

Eti shake him off!, :D

Amekuwa Luba!

What's that suppose to mean?
