In Summary

  • Beginning January 1, 2014, Uganda, Kenya and Rwanda, dubbed the Coalition of the Willing (CoW), effected a single tourist visa for visitors to their destinations.
  • Samuel Sitta, Tanzania’s minister for East African Affairs said the country is unlikely to join the single visa territory any time soon.
  • Mr Sitta said so far there is no devised mechanism as to how the revenue will be shared, and hence there is no benefit for Tanzania in this arrangement.

This is in order, but don't say you are being isolated.

Tanzania has more touristic attractions and natural resources than kenya, uganda and rwanda combined. We need to be very cautious on not issuing visa just to every tom, dick and harry!Revenue vis a vis Security concerns matter!

If you want to see and climb Africa's highest mountain, you have to come to Tanzania.
If you want to visit the stunning Serengeti National Park, you have to come to Tanzania.
if you want to see the great wildebeest migration, you have to come to Tanzania.
If you want to see Africa's largest elephant herds, you have to come to Tanzania.
If you want to see lions which climb trees, you have to come to Tanzania.

The list is endless. I think we can afford to be arrogant and choosy.

I assure u from year 2013/2014 Tanzania will be getting more revenues than COW combined! Especially with Al Shabulbs operations within Kenya
OK ok... coalition of the willing wameshaamua na wa nafanya vitu vyao, waacheni sasa.

So watu mnafurahia huu uamuzi?Nafikiri wengi mkielewa vizuri what this means mtaamua tofauti..na sitta aache fix hizo reasons alizotoa ni uwongo mkubwa na wa kitoto sana

Koba,

Hawa wakenya wanafikiri wa-TZ wajinga kila siku. It is an open secret that, they have the most international routes and most tourists come to East Africa Through Nairobi. This is a result of KA,JKIA and other international airlines that flies directly to Nairobi.

Forcing a common Visa to EA is a Kenyan Way ok keeping other Nations invincible, since most tourist will no longer consider making an entrance through JKNIA, and with TZ having the most tourist Attractions, Nyalandu, Sitta and Team would have been dumbs of a century to allow this.

Worse enough the Kikuyu Crooks would not want others to share revenues of tourists who come through Kenya when they descend to Tanzania.

Am sure Rwanda,Uganda, and Burundi do not have much at stake to be worried about this, because non has a a billion dollar tourism industry growing at double digits. For them a joint Viza is like giving a camel a bucket of water on a trip through the desert,it's nice to have but irrelevant to the fact.

Kenyan's shouldnt fool anyone who their real target in Tourism competition in EA is, and we all know the answer.

From ur little understanding of issues around the block u would think the report comes from Tanzania but actually that report came from Ugandan by the name Naluyaga in the East African! As a matter of fact it is media from Kenya, Uganda and Rwanda that is complaining about Tanzania refusal to join common visa

Toa hizo sababu za msingi za kudhani watu wakielewa vizuri what this means wataamua tofauti sio kuleta mahubiri hapa

Mimi Ningekua rais wa TZ kitu chochote ambacho kingeshirikisha Rwanda ningesema NO..

I second the decision. Let them go ahead with their CoW!

..but Tanzania has all the attractions found in other EAC members.

..convince me why a tourist should visit three EA countries, i.e, Kenya,Uganda, and Rwanda, instead of visiting Tanzania only.

..one thing I have noticed with Kenya ni kwamba mmeshindwa ku-compete na Tz kwenye utalii sasa mnataka kujificha kwenye single tourist visa. Information age has caught up with your lies. Hamuwezi tena kudanganya kwamba Mount Kilimanjaro is in Kenya.

We may not join this CoW but the sharing is well known: USD100 per visa whereby the visa issuer will get 40USD and the other two USD30 each, if tourists visit the three countries.
What is important is to know that, we are not an island, we need others to grow. As we have many attractive sites, it is obvious that we may be the country to get the bigger share in revenue collections.
