CUF ISSUE want to Adress
* Religious Issues
* Unity (country Unity)
* Mutual Political Pact W CCM
* Politicians having bad intentions for the country
* According to Hamad there are some Political Parties want's to tarnish CUF Image
Arusha - THE Zanzibar First Vice-President, Mr Seif Sharif Hamad, has warned that religious intolerance in Tanzania is on the increase and likely to catapult the country into crisis.
Mr Hamad, who is also the Secretary General for the Civic United Front, was addressing a public rally organized by his party, held in Levolosi Ward here on Sunday evening.
"Many people have been criticizing CUF for entering into a mutual political pact with the ruling Chama Cha Mapinduzi from which the Government of National Unity (GNU) was hatched in the isles," said Mr Hamad, pointing out that it was all done in good faith of cementing peaceful co-existence in Zanzibar.
"And that is in line with our party policy of assuring national cohesion at whatever price, any other politician or party thinking otherwise then they must be having bad intentions for our country," Hamad maintained. The CUF Secretary General stated here that at the moment the country is slowly but surely being divided on religious grounds, signalling danger and that it is upon Tanzanians themselves to address the situation before it's too late.
"Politicians and in fact even some officials in the current government may not exactly be interested in solving this religious problem because there are some parties and their leaders who want to capitalize on such disunions for their own political gains," claimed Mr Hamad.
The CUF's Deputy Secretary General (Mainland), Mr Julius Mtatiro, lamented that there were smear campaigns to tarnish the party's image by describing it as a Muslim association. The CUF national chairman, Prof Ibrahim Lipumba, said he intended to, once more, run for presidency in the 2015 general election because he was the only person who can bring back the country to its former unity.
The government under CUF will only deal with rescuing the country's shaky economy by using the available resources; "We intend to improve people's lives while they are still alive here on earth, but what happens after they die or which religion is good for them that should be left between them and their respective Gods," said Prof Lipumba.
