Tanroads: Damage caused by overloading cost the nation 77bn/- this year, up from 62bn/- 2011/12.

Tanzania National Roads Agency (Tanroads) plans to install Weigh in Motion equipment to screen heavy trucks so as to reduce the congestions and save time at weighbridges, it has been learnt.

The plans are contained in a report released in Dar es Salaam by Tanroads titled: "Vehicle Overload Control on Trunk Roads in Tanzania................."

The report was compiled senior Tanroads engineers Joseph Lwiza, Lucian Kilewo, Boniface Malisa and Japhet Kivuyo, who noted that vehicle damage due to overloading has increased by 25 percent.

"While the engineers say damage caused by overloading cost the nation 77bn/- this year, up from 62bn/- 2011/12....................."

Kwa mtindo huu barabara zetu hazitadumu hata kama zikidumu sana sana ni miaka mitatu tu (3) badala ya miaka ishirini (20) inayotakiwa kuwa (Pavement Life Span). Ili kupata uharibifu unavyofanyika katika barabara zinazosimamiwa na TANROADS, naomba pata taswira mbalimbali za picha kadhaa kutoka kwa wapenda maendeleo na wazarendo wenzangu:

Nilishawahi kutoa thread inafanana na hii humu jamvini, nachosema ni barabara zitatoboka si muda mrefu kwa vile uwezo wa barabara zetu kuhimili traffic loading hauendani na design yake. Tegemea kitu kinaitwa "Structural Deformation"

Na ni aibu kubwa kwa taifa masikini kama Tanzania kujenga barabara kwa gharama kubwa mfano kwa sasa 1km/1billion(Tshs) harafu wanashindwa kuzihifadhi ili zidumu kwa design life span yake, hizi mbwembwe za kuzindua mabarabara na kuweka mawe ya msingi zitakuwa useless kabisa, hali ikiendelea hivi, yangu macho.
