The country is eagerly waiting for President Jakaya Kikwetes announcement of his new Cabinet, in which he is expected to make significant changes to his old line-up, swapping the holders of some portfolios and bringing in new faces to serve in the final five years of his administration. Some 21 full Cabinet ministers, who survived the opposition onslaught in the bruising General Election of October 31, clinging to their parliamentary seats, are now anxiously waiting to know whether they will be retained in the new team expected to be named any time now.
Four other ministers namely, Mr Laurence Masha (Home Affairs), Mr Philip Marmo (Parliamentary Affairs), Dr Batilda Burian (Environment) and Dr Diodorus Kamala (East Africa Cooperation) fell by the wayside, the first three in the elections proper, and the latter during the Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) nominations.
