Habari iliyopo South Africa ni kwamba wanataka kubadilisha jina la nchi yao, wakidai jina South Africa sio jina bali linaeleza mahali nchi ilipo katika bara la Afrika. Kimsingi wanasema South Africa ni nchi ambayo haina jina.
Wanasema kwamba walipaswa waige mfano wa nchi kama Zimbabwe na Namibia, zilizobadili majina mara baada ya kupata uhuru.
Wazo hili limekuwa likiungwa mkono na vyama mbalimbali vya siasa nchini humo, na maoni ya ANC, chama tawala nchini humo, ni kwamba linapaswa kujadiliwa rasmi katika ngazi za juu za chama.
Kumekuwa na mapendekezo na upendezi kwamba South Africa ibadili jina na kuitwa Azania, jina ambalo huko nyuma lilitumika na vyama kama Pan African Congress (PAC).
Ikiwa South Africa itabadili jina na kuwa Azania, basi itazidi kufanana na Tanzania katika jina, bendera na wimbo wa taifa. Sijui hili limetokeaje.

Why the PAC wants South Africa renamed Azania
Various organisations and people have suggested that the name of our country should be changed.
Arts and Culture Minister Nathi Mthethwa says the name change suggestions will be discussed during the ANC's policy conference in the coming weeks.
The Pan Africanist Congress (PAC) is one of the organisations moving that the name be changed to Azania.
CapeTalk/702's Stephen Grootes spoke to PAC general-secretary Narius Moloto about why the name Azania should be chosen.
Azania is the original name of the Southern tip of Africa and the research by Professor Eskiah Mphahlele clearly reveals that the real name of South Africa is actually Azania.
