The Chama cha Demokrasia na Maendeleo (Chadema) secretary general, Dr Willibrod Slaa, has camped in Mwanza to boost campaigns for his partys candidate for the mayoral seat for the municipal council.
The Mwanza region Chadema secretary, Mr Wilson Mshumbusi, and the partys Member of Parliament for Nyamagana constituency, Mr Ezekiel Wenje, confirmed yesterday about Dr Slaas presence in the city.
They said Dr Slaa was conducting high-level meetings aimed at grooming Chadema councillors who will contest for the mayoral post.
The councillors are also been trained on how best to manage councils and bring about development, said Mr Mshumbusi, adding: The secretary general (Dr Slaa) has spent the whole of today (yesterday) in a meeting with Chadema high ranking officials before meeting the councillors in the evening.
His main mission was to give directives on the qualities of a good leader before meeting the candidates today, said the Chadema secretary for Mwanza region.
He said Dr Slaa has vowed to stay in Mwanza to witness the mayoral election before returning to partys headquarters in Dar es Salaam
