Security Company Director Remanded Over Alleged Mineral Fraud

A director of Details Security Company Ltd has been charged with mineral fraud after 785 kilograms of minerals allegedly presented as gold were reportedly linked to a complaint investigated by Ugandan authorities.

Isaac Akampulira Rukanda was arraigned before the Kajjansi Chief Magistrates Court and charged with storing minerals without a licence and mixing minerals with intent to defraud.

The complaint was brought to the attention of State Minister for Privatisation and Investment, Hajjat Aminah Mukalazi, who coordinated with key stakeholders, including the State House Investors Protection Unit led by Col. Edith Nakalema, to ensure the matter was followed up.

Police subsequently secured and cordoned off the scene as investigations began.

The State House Anti-Graft Unit, working with the Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID) and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP), later arraigned Akampulira before the Kajjansi Chief Magistrates Court.

Prosecution alleges that between February 2025 and August 2026, Akampulira and others still at large stored minerals, including copper, zinc and cobalt, without a valid licence.

He is further accused of mixing the minerals in different proportions and presenting them as gold bars, allegedly with the intention of defrauding investors.

Akampulira has been remanded until September 16, 2026, as investigations continue.
