Russia and Angola launch first African satellite in 2017.

The Minister for Foreign Affairs of Angola, Georges Rebelo Pinto Chikoti announced in Moscow that the first satellite operated by an African nation, the Angosat, will be built and launched a project in Angola with Russia within three years.

After a meeting with his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov, the Angolan Minister said that a team of experts has been formed to take charge of the mission.

Chikoti, quoted by the daily newspaper of Russia, also said that it will be necessary to create structures in Angola before realising the project, what might happen over the next 36 months.

The Angolan Minister, who is in Moscow for a three-day official visit, announced that the Bilateral Joint Committee on Angola-Russia, will meet for the third time in the second half of this year.
