Professor Godius Kahyarara is a Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Transport. He is a Professor of Economics, and a distinguished alumnus and former academic at the University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM)
He has wide experience in research and consultancies related to government policy formulation and review in forest and other natural resources.
Before joining the University in 2006 he was a national coordinator of Poverty Reduction and Environment Management (PREM) through funding from the DGIS of the Dutch government. He worked to establish market for environmental services and he participated in carry out of livelihood assessment and cost and benefit analysis that have resulted in the establishment of the first market of watershed services in the Ruvu River upper catchments and Sigi in Muheza Tanga.
He participated in the design of current investment policy, transformation of some government departments into executive agencies, review of irrigation master plan and recently review of forest sector policy.
