Having a romantic meal is one of the special moments that every couple cherish. Going to a fancy restaurant for a romantic meal is an easy way out. But if you truly want your special someone to get bowled over by you, plan and prepare a romantic meal at home.

Here are some tips:

Choose a day on which you are sure that you and your partner are free from all prior commitments.

You can either have a romantic dinner surprise or leave a small note about the dinner plans that night. You could also send a bouquet of flowers and tuck your invitation note in it.

Take out your best cutlery, table cloth, napkins and those exquisite wine glasses used for special occasions.

Bright coloured candles and fresh flowers in a decorative vase is a must. Without these, romantic dinners lose their sheen and value.

The true spirit of a romantic dinner is when you prepare the meal yourself. However, if your culinary skills are rusty or non-existent, then you can order dinner from a good restaurant.

Take your partner's food preferences as a major concern especially if they are allergic to certain food items.

Appetisers and desserts are a must.

Do not serve strong alcoholic drinks; stick to wine or champagne. The idea is not to pig out on the food and get drunk on the booze or it spoils the evening.

Play soft romantic songs and dim the lights in the room. Last but not the least, switch off your cellphones to enjoy the night with each other.

Usisahau "teasers" like kumwambia kutakua na romantic dinner, then kinky desert....
I think another good tip could be to prepare the food together. It won't be much of a romantic meal but a "quality time" spent together.
