Passport thefts at Dar airport.

I have just received this e mail from someone. Thought that I should post it here. Is there anyone with a similar story or experience?

Please be careful when going to Dar-es-salaam.
There is new scam just started to steal passports in the last few days. After Visa and Immigration when you go through to customs they ask to see you passport. When you hand them your passport they give it to a person near them who takes it and runs straight out of the building. This is planted so you cannot even run behind them and catch them.
Suggest you hold your own passport and just show it to them, refuse to hand over your passport to customs- ... also make few photo copies too !

They just change your picture na mtu anaanza mbele kwa kutumia viza zako. It happened to me.

Hii habari haijatulia, kama anayechukua passport in customs iweje wewe uondoke hapo na wakati umemkabidhi mtu unamuona yupo pale pale? mbona mimi tena majuzi nilisahau hand bag yangu, nikalazimika kuwaachia passport yangu pale immigration nikaenda kuchukua handbag yangu na nikakuta passport yangu bila shida?

Labda mtoa mada alikuwa ana matatizo mengine pale airport. Au walikuwa wana mhisi kitu wakaenda kuichunguza pass yake.

Passport za sasa huwezi ukafanya hivyo, picha haijabadikwa, ni scanned na kila kitu digital (yaani yale mambo ya height, colour, eyes colour, mwanya etc) yapo encrypted.
