Omusunga Charles Kamurasi has rejected claims that the late King of Tooro, Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV, left behind a child, describing the reports as a “lie” and questioning the authority of those who made the announcement.

Kamurasi has taken issue with the announcement attributed to the Tooro Kingdom Prime Minister, demanding to know who authorised him to speak publicly about such a sensitive matter concerning the late King and the royal family.

“Who is he to make that announcement? Is he a Mubito?” Kamurasi asked.

He urged the Batooro to question the claim rather than accept it without clarification, insisting that matters concerning the King’s family and lineage should be handled with the appropriate authority and sensitivity.

Kamurasi’s comments come as Tooro mourns the death of King Oyo, whose death has generated widespread public attention and renewed focus on the royal family and the future of the kingdom.

His main concern is not only whether the reported child exists, but also who has the mandate to make such an announcement and on what basis.

Kamurasi’s remarks have therefore placed renewed attention on the circumstances surrounding the claim, calling for greater clarity over information being communicated about the late King and his family.
