Scientists have been operating in a new area of the Punggye-ri Nuclear Test site, satellite images reveal, as Donald Trump embarks on a diplomatic trip across five nations in Asia for 13 days.
This morning the US President arrived in neighbouring South Korea where he threatened more action against Kim Jong-un’s nation.
Now speculation mounts that North Korea is orchestrating a seventh nuclear test as Mr Trump meets Asia’s political elite.
The satellite images reveal movement of equipment, mining, carts, material and netting within the area of the West Portal in the test site.

At the North Portal, where the last five of the six nuclear tests were conducted, two temporary structures near the portal’s entrance that were likely associated with the September test have been removed, and move vehicles, mining equipment or materials have been observed in this area since the test.
The West Portal has experienced little to no activity for the past several months, according to 38north, but the movement of mining cars were noted in the days after the sixth test and have increased significantly in subsequent weeks.
