LILLESTROM midfielder, Nosa Igiebor, has declared that the nation's U-23 team underrated Tanzania in last Sundays Olympic Games qualifier in Dar-es-Salaam which culminated into the 0-1 loss.
The Dream Team V succumbed to the goal from star striker, Ulimwengu Emmanuel with eight minutes left.
Its sad, its kind of difficult to say but I think the main point here is that we underrated the boys and that's just the truth about it," Igiebor lamented.
"When we looked at them we thought we won the game even before it started. I think that's just the only reason.
"If it comes to the game we were far better than them in everything, we had 18 scoring chances and could not convert any. They had their only chance and they scored. I think we underrated the boys thats just the big problem there.
Igiebor with four goals so far in the qualifiers, appealed to Nigerians to expect a better performance in the return leg tie billed for June 18 in Benin City.
I know Nigerians are disappointed right now. There is no excuse for failure, we failed and I apologise to Nigerians on behalf of my colleagues but I also want to promise Nigerians that the return leg will be a different ball game. We just want to promise them that we are going to kill them from the blast of the whistle. For everything that happened in Dar-es-Salaam we have learnt our lessons and we are happy that we have a chance to correct our mistakes, he added.
