The National Curriculum development Center(NCDC) is on final stages as they prepare to launch the new A-Level grading system for Advanced Secondary Curriculum.

Gilbert Gift Siima manager secondary Department at NCDC reveals that the system is shifting from the current A B C D E O F to A B C D E and will be effected this year 2026.

“A B C D E is a descriptor that talks about what a student is able to do, it further distinguishes the achievenment of every child” Gilbert Siima revealed.

Grading Systems
Old system
A-6points, B-5,C-4, D-3, E-2,O-1, F-Fail

New system
A-5points, B-4points, C-3,D-2, E-1

Just like the Ordinary UCE Cirruculum A stands for Exceptional, B Outstanding, C Satisfactory, D Basic Understanding, E Elementary Underatanding.Daily Monitor

One of the teachers undergoing online traning about the New system Joshua Ewo, Deputy headteacher Fr Aloysius S S, Kole District also revealed that in the new system, the number of papers per subject will change for instance physics will have only Two assesments, A theory and one Practical different from the former which had 3 assesments of two theories and One practical.

This action comes up after government revamped the ordinary Level grading in 2024 shifting from numerical distinctions, credits, passes and failures to letter grades A-E. Daily Monitor
