The general public is hereby informed that the first private Technical institute offering Earth Sciences Education in Tanzania has been opened in Shinyanga.
The Institute provides Education services in:
- Exploration and Mining Geology -with future extension to Mining Engineering,
- Mineral Processing and
- Gemology.
The college is run by The Earth Sciences Institute of Shinyanga, ESIS an organization, which is formed by Tanzanians experts in diversity skills.
The Institute is registered by the National Council for Technical Education of Tanzania, (NACTE), with reg. Number REG/EOS/041P.
The institute targets form four and six leavers with alienation in sciences subjects for certificate levels in the next academic year starting October 2012.
Primarily the institute aims at solving the challenges of lacking intermediate staff within the mining sector, as from the current situation colleges in the country have been concentrating in producing senior knowledge based staff with degrees.
The approach with training modules in the institute curriculum are tailored to meet the need to have competence based out put of alumnae.
The institute has its buildings at Mwadui in Shinyanga Region, within the compounds of Williamson Diamond Mines and where practical facilities and other learning services are available for students. The institute will later get be shifted to its permanent premises at Ndala, Shinyanga Town, Plot No 91, BlocKHH.
