Ok folks, so this december me and close family decided to take a tour of your lovely country and I must add i really enjoyed it. We decided to do it by road in order to get a real veiw of the country. We went in from nairobi to Arusha then to Dar and then to Zanzibar and back to Kenya through Mombasa.

First thing that struck me was the expanse of the country....wow, tracks and tracks of good arable land just sitting there idle...lool..sorry for being a kenyan but i just couldnt help but salivate. Arusha was a pleasant surprise...nice city, there was alot of similarities with nairobi.....the cool weather and the lush green gardens, the streets were a little narrow though. The night was really warm unlike nairobi (maybe it was just in the hotel we were in) . The food was grat and surprisingly cheap, we really get a raw deal here in Kenya.

The trip to Dar was amazing, really beautiful landscapes, great open spaces, very few people. I really enjoyed it. But the trip can be long ant tiresome. Another thing is buses go really fast there unlike Kenya. i guess they have to given the distances they have to cover.

Dar was ok, but damn, the town is soooo sleepy and slow, but i guess it was also the holiday season. i wonder how it feel like sometime in the middle of the year. The city also looked clean, which was nice. it wasnt as hot as i expected. Mombasa is certainly hotter. There seemed to be air conditioning everywhere even in the cheap hotels, made me wonder what the cost of electricity is there.

Zanzibar was the best place ever. The people for some reason seemed friendlier that those on the mainland, where we were called manyang'ua and wachafuzi wa nchi...etc.(but most people were ok) the food culture in Zanzibar is great, i loved it.

All in all i loved the country........cheers

Another bragger...

I traveled from Mombasa to Nairobi by Akamba Bus.... The bastard was doing 120 km/hour..!! Is that what you call slow?.. Good thing about the Mombasa-Nairobi stretch is that the road has a separate "climbing lane" on all up-hill potions, which all slow vehicles and heavily loaded trucks use to climb the hill.... Otherwise...God Almighty!!! I could have been up among the stars by now.

Straddler.

try to visit the city during normal days u will even see how slow can the city get with the traffic jams...

I will definately try that though its difficult to get some free time in the middle of the year. But I may be in Arusha soon, we are the architects of a project around there.....

I agree , timbilimu. .....The only thing you have to do is pray that you will not have a front Tyre burst, and that the driver did not have "ka-bia kamoja".

Its illegal for a public service driver to do more than 80km/h, so that driver was doing something illegal, glad you got to your destination safely.

I like Arusha, feels so much like home compared to Dar. Mnairobi Dar is usually slow irregardless of whether its on a holiday or normal working day, its a nice beautiful city though.

What happened to my country? Tanzanians have become so unfriendly towards foreigners, especially the Kenyans.
Na kwa kweli Kenya is a natural partner to Tanzania.

Well said Kibona, hata warafiki wetu wa zamani tuishi nao vizuri. Hao wanaowataka wahamie huko! Let's focus on domestic issues kwa sasa..they are plenty!

Ulibahatika kupita Mrina, Sewa, Kinos, SUn Siro, Bwawani, CCM Maisala etc ukiwa Bongo?, I think you could have enjoyed a lot .....

Well said kibona. I have work with kenyans, man they are not friends at all. They will never appriciate a good thing done by a tanzanian. I consider them enemies. When ever i find opportunity to scrutch one of them ill do it with pleasure. Very few of them are honest... Be on ur guard as u work with them they are good backbiters.

My goodness......I thought part of growing up is realising that generalising and sweeping comments are some of the most idiotic things someone can do. I guess some people havent learnt that yet.....SMDH
