Were sorry to hear of the problems you are experiencing with the contacts application on your Sony Xperia X10i.
We can confirm that we have investigated the issue you have described and found that the issue is related to a recent update to Google Play Services. Google have been contacted regarding this and confirmed that a further update to Google Play Services will be released to resolve the issue in the near future.
In the meantime, you can either uninstall recent updates or remove the accounts on your handset which are linked into your phonebook and controlled by Google Play Services.
To uninstall Google Play Services updates, please follow the steps below. Please be aware that doing this may affect your access to some Google services.
1. Go into Settings.
2. Select Apps.
3. Scroll to All.
4. Tap Google Play Services
5. Select Uninstall updates.
Alternatively, you can remove accounts which are linked to your Contacts app by following the steps below:
1. Go into Settings.
2. Under Accounts, tap Facebook.
3. Press Menu.
4. Select Remove account.
