Mob Kills Two Suspected Cattle Thieves in Luweero

Two men suspected of cattle theft were lynched by an angry mob in Luweero District after they were allegedly caught attempting to steal livestock.

The deceased have been identified as Henry Matovu and Dan Sebuuma, both aged 28 and residents of Kamira Town Council in Luweero District.
According to Savannah Regional Police spokesperson ASP Sam Twiineamazima, the incident occurred in the early hours of Monday at around 4:40 a.m. in Mabuye Trading Centre.
"Preliminary investigations indicate that at about 4:00 a.m., two suspected cattle thieves were beaten and killed by a mob in Mabuye Trading Centre. The suspects were reportedly chased from the direction of Kamira Town Council before being intercepted and attacked by residents," Twiineamazima said.

According to Nile post, the two men were accused by residents of participating in cattle theft, a crime that has become a growing concern among livestock farmers in the area. The suspects were reportedly pursued by a group of residents before being cornered at Mabuye Trading Centre, where they were assaulted and killed.

Security personnel later responded to the scene and recovered the bodies for postmortem examination. Police have since launched investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident and are working to establish the full details of the alleged theft.

Authorities have condemned the act of mob justice, warning that taking the law into one's own hands is illegal and undermines the criminal justice system. Police urged members of the public to apprehend suspects and hand them over to law enforcement agencies for proper investigation and prosecution.
Investigations into the matter are ongoing.
