The MP for Sikonge, Said Juma Nkumba, said that after last week's dramatic resignations of former Prime Minister Edward Lowassa and senior ministers Nazir Karamagi and Dr Ibrahim Msabaha over the scandal, the axe must now fall on Rostam.
''Apart from the former ministers, there are certain other individuals with (key) positions in the (ruling) party and in parliament, who have been implicated in the scandal. These individuals should now also face disciplinary action. And here I am referring to Rostam Aziz,'' Nkumba declared in parliament.
Contributing to the debate which resumed yesterday on the report findings of the Richmond parliamentary probe committee, Nkumba insisted that there was sufficient evidence linking Rostam directly to the controversial US-based Richmond Development Company LLC.
''I suggest that we include a new recommendation in the report that Rostam Aziz should be strictly disciplined for his own role in the whole affair,'' the MP asserted.
He said he had been particularly irked by the failure of the Igunga MP and former cabinet minister Daniel Yona to appear before the parliamentary committee for questioning on the matter, despite both being sent official summons.
''Rostam Aziz and Yona have shown disrespect not only to the parliamentary committee, but to the entire parliament for failing to present themselves for questioning after being required to do so,'' said a vividly angry Nkumba, whose constituency is in the same Tabora Region as that of the Igunga MP.
He charged that Rostam's connections with both Richmond and the United Arab Emirates company Dowans Holdings SA, which later inherited the dubious contract with the Tanzania Electric Supply Company (TANESCO), was now costing Tanzanian taxpayers a staggering 152m/-.
