[h=1]Crystal Palace 0-0 Manchester United: Another miserable day for Rooney, but De Gea shines again[/h]

[h=2][/h]

[h=3]De Gea[/h] Alert in the opening minutes when he made three crucial saves to at least stave off a disastrous opening. Pity United could not build on his help. 8
[h=3]Darmian[/h] The Italian struggled from the off and that was before ex-Red Wilfried Zaha started to tease and torment him. Once he was booked it was a foregone conclusion he'd be subbed. 5
[h=3]Smalling[/h] A bit of a shaky start like the rest of the defence but he grew into the physical aerial battle and steadied the ship well. 7
[h=3]Blind[/h] The Dutch defender got back into something more like his old self against some powerful and tricky pressure from Palace. 7

[h=3]Rojo[/h] After having De Bruyne in his pocket in the derby the Argentine kept up his renewed form with a very solid display. Nothing got past him. 7
[h=3]Mata[/h] Apart from a couple of decent runs and passes the Spaniard never really got into the game enough to make an impact 6
[h=3]Schweinsteiger[/h] Considering the German's pedigree this was another performance like the rest recently when he didn't really put his stamp on the match. 6

[h=3]Schneiderlin[/h] The French midfielder's improved form was really showing in the opening half but his impact on the game lessened as it went on. 6
[h=3]Herrera[/h] So much to like in his box-to-box game but not enough of it showed at Selhurst Park. Spent a lot of time getting into arguments with Palace players. 6

[h=3]Martial[/h] Ended the game in the forward role he should probably have been playing from the start. In both roles it was a day when not much came off for him. 6
[h=3]Rooney[/h] Beaten by Palace keeper Wayne Hennessey in the 32nd minute in a 60-40 chase and that summed up another miserable afternoon for him. 5

[h=3]Subs[/h] Young (Darmian 68) Steady effort 6
Fellaini (Schweinsteiger 70) Didn't cause enough late problems 5
Lingard (Mata 78) Unable to get into it 5
Not used: Carrick, Fellaini, Tuanzebe, Pereira, Romero not used

[h=2]Crystal Palace manager still believes the England striker is a threat - even after a frustrating start to the season[/h]

Alan Pardew claims Wayne Rooney remains Manchester United's dangerman - but says the England captain is not getting the service he wants.
The Crystal Palace manager's comments come after Paul Scholes claimed legendary Old Trafford strikers like Andy Cole and Ruud van Nistelrooy would struggle to play under Louis van Gaal.

Ahead of United's visit to Selhurst Park today, Pardew said: "I think Wayne, throughout most of his career, has been at the top of the pitch or just back one in the number 10 role.
"He plays both roles very well.
"He is at the top of the pitch now and maybe he is not getting the service he would probably want in that.
"I can see a little bit of frustration in him but that makes him dangerous."

Rooney has still scored six goals for United this season despite struggling for consistency.
Pardew added: "Rooney has proved many times, particularly when he gets criticism, that he can deliver.
"We'll be on our guard for Wayne.
"He's an outstanding player, he's the England captain and we'll give him the respect he deserves."

[h=1]Van Gaal on why his Manchester United revolution is taking time to take off[/h]

[h=2]Dutchman has come in for criticism following the midweek League Cup defeat to Middlesbrough[/h]

Louis van Gaal claims the competitive nature of the Premier League has prevented his Manchester United revolution from taking off as quickly as he'd hoped.
United are still a work in progress, despite the Dutchman spending around ?250m since taking over at Old Trafford last year.
He came in for fierce criticism from Paul Scholes following the Capital One Cup defeat to Middlesbrough in midweek - and opinion among supporters is divided.

Van Gaal arrived in England with a stellar reputation after leading Ajax, Barcelona and Bayern Munich to titles.
Asked why it was taking longer at United, he explained: "I think it's also the Premier League - that's what I have said at every press conference.
"We have to play against Crystal Palace this weekend. It is a rat race. You have to win again, and it is so difficult to beat your opponent in the Premier League.

[h=1]Van Gaal questions Manchester United's title credentials after latest bore draw[/h]

[h=2]Man Utd made it three games without a goal after being held by Crystal Palace[/h]

Louis van Gaal questioned Manchester United's title credentials after their latest goalless draw at Crystal Palace.
The Dutchman delivered a withering assessment of his side after they failed to score for the third game in succession.
"I am not happy because if you want to be the champions, you have to win these kinds of matches.," he said. "Arsenal beat Swansea, for example. We lost against Swansea, even though we were the better team, but they have beaten them 3-0."
United followed on from the goalless draws against Manchester City and Middlesbrough by failing to find a way through at Selhurst Park.

And asked how he could resolve his team's lack of cutting edge, Van Gaal's response was blunt.
"I cannot do anything anymore because we cannot train. We can only recover and recover.
"We have to score in the next match and then everybody will be happy again, and especially against CSKA Moscow it is very important to score.
"Of course it is a concern. I said that after the match against Middlesbrough, when we created a lot of chances.

"You have to finish the chances.

"In the last minute of the first half, Ander Herrera could have finished it but he didn't.
"I asked him and he didn't know why, so that is a pity.
"But I can't complain about the result because I don't think we were the better team today."

Van Gaal added: "Palace showed a lot of aggression. They won every ball in the first quarter of the first half – the second and third ball was always for Crystal Palace, so they built up a lot of pressure on us.
"But, after 15 minutes, we came into the match and created a few chances.
"In the second half, we could not develop our positional game and could not keep the ball, so we could not create too many chances. Our defensive organisation was good – we didn't give too much away."

Kila siku huwa nasema LVG is not a perfect coach for Man Utd lakini huwa naoneka kama mpuuzi na nisiyejua soka, ila siku zinavyokwenda wote mtakubali haya niyasemayo.

Siku hizi nikikosa gemu ya Mna Utd hata siumii moyo kama zamani coz najua hamna cha tofauti, timu inacheza kama timu ya Kwenye Ndondo cup.Siku hizi foward kuchezeshwa full back ni kawaiga central striker kuchezeshwa on the wings ni kawaida.Wachezaji wanaokosa magoli a wazi wao na goli kipa ndyo kila siku wapo on the starting eleven..still you want big results.....shame on you LVG

United have gone 488 mins 18 seconds
without conceding a goal.
bus packed

Wayne Rooney is now the joint second
highest goal scorer for MUFC at 237 goals
(Law), 12 behind Sir Bobby Charlton.

Lingard: "It's always an honour to play for
Man Utd. I've always wanted to play for
United especially on Champions League
nights like this." (MOTM)

Naona sasa umeanza kuelewa na kuona kwanini nilikuwa nikiandika LVG is useless...!

Manchester United won 1-0 against CSKA Moscow to go on top of Group B in the Champions League and here are 10 things we learned.
1. Attacking football is more exhilarating to watch than pass, pass, pass, pass!
2. Jesse Lingard is that kind of a player. ❤❤❤
3. Michael Carrick still got it. ❤ Him and Bastian Schweinsteiger made a case for 4-4-2. The offered great cover to defence but more so, Bastian was all up in the attack while Carrick controlled the game from start to finish.
4. When Anthony Martial Officiel gets frustrated, bring on the Big Fella. That was a good tactical move by LVG in retrospect...
5. However... Van Gaal was good for the first time at OT for making a substitution nobody wanted to see happen.
6. Now that Wayne Rooney has scored - let's all agree it was long overdue - but it was nice to see the Captain so hungry for goals.
7. Memphis Depay seems to have learned some lessons. He was sharing and being all controlled. ‪#‎thebreakdidhimgood‬
8. Marcos Rojo is a fighter. His runs forward were awesome but then, so was his defensive moves.
9. But the football brains award still go to Daley Blind who was able to temper very fast CSKA forwards with great positioning.
10. Chris Smalling though, takes the icing on the cake because ‪#‎thebeast‬was just awesome in his moves and that save was major. Plus He's not Mike Smalling and he also saves.
10.1 There are no small teams in the Champions League and CSKA really fought to win it.
10.2 United' can attack when they want to - never gave time for the opponents to mount an attack.
10.3 It was another day when DDG took a break, but he deserves it as we go into the EPL this weekend!
10.4 We called it: If Ander Herrera was going to come in this match, it was to be in defensive midfield.
10.5 It feels nice to have Champions League matches. Very, very nice.
