The deceased, identified as Tenywa Hussain, was shot dead at about 12:30 a.m. on September 6, 2026, during a brawl at Muzuri Guest House and Bar in Bunangwe Zone.

According to Busoga North Regional Police Spokesperson Samson Lubega, the incident occurred during a boxing match that had been organised at the venue.

Preliminary investigations indicate that a disagreement over access to the event premises escalated into a confrontation, during which a firearm was discharged, fatally injuring Tenywa.

“Police were notified at about 12:39 a.m. and immediately commenced investigations. Relevant exhibits have been recovered, while the deceased's body was conveyed to Kamuli General Hospital for a postmortem examination,” Lubega said.

The proprietor of Muzuri Guest House and Bar has since been arrested to assist police with investigations, while security teams continue searching for other suspects believed to have been involved in the scuffle.

Police are also investigating how the boxing match was organised, including whether the organisers had obtained the required regulatory approvals and security clearances.

Authorities have appealed to eyewitnesses and members of the public with information that could help identify and arrest the perpetrators to report to the nearest police station.
