Tanzanian President John Magufuli has sacked 9,932 public workers after a report found that they were using fake certificates.

Speaking after receiving the report on public servants certificates verification on Friday, he directed that salaries for the 9,000 plus employees for this month be withheld.

He also directed the Prime Minister, Kassim Majaliwa, to declare the posts that were being held by the fake certificate holders be announced vacant.

“They are thieves like any other thieves… you cannot perform if you don’t have deserving qualifications,” he said.

He further ordered that others whose certificates have been found to have discrepancies be treated legally “so that they could be jailed for seven years as per the law.”

The Tanzanian leader noted that operations to verify public servants' certificates will compliment an earlier exercise by the government to root out phantom employees.

He said the State was losing Tsh19.84 billion monthly (around Sh915 billion) to ghost workers.

Tanzania said that a total of 435,000 civil servants had their certificates verified, with 9,932 of them found to be in possession forged certificates.

Hivi Kenya hamna wale wenye vyeti feki?

Nilifatilia speech yake toka mwanzo and I noted kama he was implying that someone with a lower grade certificate cannot be a boss to someone with a higher certificate! If that's the case, I ask myself one question, say if I have two employees, one is a form 6 dropout but a dedicated employee who goes beyond what his duties dictates and makes decision in the company's best interest and a graduate who thinks he's God's gift to the company, we know them, the kind who always comes to work 10 minutes late and leaves 10 minutes early and thinks its no big deal, the type that leaves a customer waiting coz it's lunch hour. In this case, who would you promote to be the others boss?
And by the way, Am sure mawaziri dont hold the highest certificate in their ministries neither does the president in a country, CEOS the same

Najua hata Kenya wamo, lakini a freaking 10,000 civil servants with fake certificate and you still call yourself the most honest society.
good question...when they call kenyans wakora you will think that tz hakuna corruption

I think it could sound right if he said that so that they could be taken to court rather than be jailed.
