If racial prejudice is done and gone, why are there no African-American U.S. Senators? Why is there only one African-American state governor? Why are there only six African-American CEOs of Fortune 500 companies? Why is Barack Obama the least popular president among white voters in, like, forever?

We are not talking about an "occasional remark." We are talking about the widespread, systematic belief, probably in many cases subconscious, held by white people that African-Americans are incapable or unworthy of holding high office.

Let's not unfurl the "mission accomplished" banner just yet.
