LUCKY Dube's daughter Nonkululeko is cutting a niche for herself in the music industry.

Nonkululeko Dube, who seems determined to follow in her legendary father's footsteps, is jetting off to Germany today, where she will perform at the Africa Festival in Wurzburg on Sunday.

She bade her fans goodbye last night at the Bassline in Newtown, Johannesburg.

She has performed in Sydney, Australia, Suriname and in Holland. Dube recently dropped an album titled My Way.

"I think this album is going to be something big not only here but everywhere in the world.

"My sound is different in that it comprises reggae, jazz, Afro-pop and maskandi fused into one great product.

"I have always loved singing but I was not ready to release an album because I was still mourning my dad.

"He was supportive in everything I wanted to do.

"I feel honoured because I will be performing on the same stage on which my father used to perform.

"I am nerve-racked yet honoured," she said.

Dube said she hoped people would not put her on the same level as her father because "I am not yet there".

"As soon as they know I am doing reggae, automatically they put me in the same category."

She said her show at the Bassline in Newtown was emotional and eye-opening as she had realised how much her father was loved.
