The elite women have reached the halfway stage. Pacemakers Josephine Chepkoech and Joyce Chepkirui are, as you might imagine, in the lead with a time of 1:09:15, with Tirunesh Dibaba, Pirscah Jeptoo, Florence Kiplagat, Edna Kiplagat, Feyse Tadese and Aberu Kebede in the pack behind them.

At the halfway point of the men's elite race, Wilson Kipsang is at the head of the leading pack, along with Geoffrey Mutai and Tsegaye Kebede, among others. They reached that point at 1:02:30, which is about 15 seconds ahead of course record pace

Edna Kiplagat wins followed by Florence Kiplagat and finally the Ethiopian Tirunesh Dibaba. Proud to be Kenyan. Our flag flies high and above.

Kenya First Lady Margaret Kenyatta today made history by becoming the first African First Lady to complete in and finish the 42km London Marathon.

Margret, who turned 50 last week, finished at a time of 07:05:28. She was competing as part of promoting the Beyond Zero campaign, which aims to promote maternal and child health.

At the finish line to congratulate the First Lady was President Uhuru Kenyatta, Mama Ngina Kenyatta and other close family members.

Both the men's and women's races were won by Kenyans, with Wilson Kipsang finishing the men's race at a time of 2:04:27. Edna Kiplagat took the women's race at a time of 2:20:19. The second spots in both the men's and women's races were also taken by Kenyans.
