Lira student wins gold and silver at national physics competition

Tina Hope Adongo, a Senior Two student at Mentor High School in Lira City, has emerged national champion in Category 2 at the Physics Society of Uganda national competition held at Makerere University in Kampala.

Adongo won both gold and silver medals in the competition, earning her the national championship title in her category.

Fred Olwol, Head of the Physics Department at Mentor High School, said the competition started in Term One, with the school entering 37 candidates.

Of these, 18 students qualified for the second round held at Lira University, from which Adongo progressed to the national competition.

Adongo, a native of Ogwete Sub-county in Otuke District and daughter of Carlos Opio, credited her teachers and school administration for supporting her journey.

She encouraged students across the Lango sub-region to embrace science subjects, saying they can open opportunities for academic and professional growth.
