The Kiteto District Commissioner, Hon. Tumaini Magesa launched Interactive Radio Programs that focus on the delivery of Climate & Weather Information to farmers and pastoralists in Kiteto district, Manyara region in Tanzania.
The planning and design of the Interactive Radio Programs has been facilitated by Farm Radio International (FRI) through financial support from WFP.
Hon. Tumaini Magesa said “Last year farmers in Kiteto district took a loan from the AMCOs and planted sunflower, they did not get any harvest so they couldn't pay back the loan.
They are now in debt. We are happy that FRI has commenced work in our district and they will provide us with downscaled information on climate and weather to enable farmers to avoid guessing the planting time, the variety to plant, and when to exactly do that”.
