It does not make sense for 45 million Kenyans to spend more than ONE HUNDRED AND EIGHT BILLION SHILLINGS (108,000,000,000) per year on salaries and allowances for 67 senators, 349 members of the National Assembly and 2,526 Members of county assembly. Kenyans are overrepresented and l shall push for the reduction of the number of MPs and MCAs. The media should push to make the MPs’, MCAs’, and Senators’ 50% pay-cut part of the agenda in this campaign period.
2. Vehicle Grants: Every MP and Senator gets a non-repayable grant of 5 million shillings to buy a car. Why should we pay them hefty salaries and then buy them cars? Taxpayers spend 4.9 BILLION SHILLINGS FOR LUXURY CARS. This is legalized theft!
3. Illegal Sitting Allowances: On top of their hefty salaries, MPs are, also paid sitting allowances’ for every parliament or committee session. Every time an MP or Senator goes to parliament to do their job, they get 5000 shillings. Parliament sits twice daily, in the morning and afternoon, for 4 days a week. This means that an MP is paid 80,000 shillings on top of their basic salary to do their actual job.
4. State Protection: Every MP is entitled to one bodyguard. Some have more. For a country with a low police to population ratio, more than 1/8th of the police service is dedicated to VIP protection. Why should MPs have bodyguards? Isn’t the country safe? MPs do not do dangerous work – unless they consider serving Kenyans a risky job. The 999 emergency numbers should always work and emergencies promptly responded to. This requires that the police live and work in humane conditions, are well paid, and their service cars fueled. They should live amongst civilians to ensure the safety of the citizens, not just a few individuals.
5. Unreasonable Medical Cover:MPs and Senators have a 10-million-shillings medical cover. This should be scrapped. Any person occupying public office should use the same facilities as the people who elect him/her. How else would they improve the health sector if they never interact with it?

Sasa kama kenya ni failed state ...what about somali ..or libya ...kenya has problems but bado si failed state

African political leaders usually treat their people like slaves, I really hate this type of governance. Politicians should stop being treated like special people. Hapo ndo wazungu hutushindia we are still deep into slavery.

I thought you voted yes for the constitution bcoz baba said it was very good.
And no-one except baba can change it. Otherwise it will be said; wanaharibu katiba

Yeah it's agreeable we need to trim down the representation, restructure it and reduce the wage-bill. But ain't you the same guys intending to modify the constitution by adding a few more slots to quench the thirst of some individuals, PM post is said to be one of them.

Wow, that heading man !!! But let me say this, fail state sio lazima kuwe na mabomu na watu wana kufa barabarani kama Syria. Kenya had fail to keep a tight grip with inequality, the gap between rich and poor is so wide kiasi kwamba you don't even know where to start if you want to reverse it maana hakuna mtu atakubali kuchukuwa "haircut". Vitu vya kwanza Magufuli alifanya alipoingia madarakani ni kukata salary of top civil servants by 50%. As we stant now, Kenya had score nearly 50 points on global inequality chart, while in Tanzania score 33 points (0 perfect equality, 100 is absolute inequality).

MCAs should make 50,00 and MPS 200,000,nothing more

I have heard you say this a couple of times but NASA has never proclaimed that they intend to add some more posts to please all their principals - it's just blogging rumours as usual. Incidentally the same rumours are being peddled about Jubilee after Gideon Moi came into play.

Look at this one now. SMH

Mr., Africa as a whole is a failed case scenario. If Kenya has failed in some aspects (inequality), Tanzania is not faring well either. Remember, Julius Nyerere institutionalized poverty in Tanzania with his ujamaa program. Were it not that his successor Mwinyi started to undo his disastrous policies, I don't kmow where Tanzania would have been today!

I got that from Standard news paper article Secrets of NASA final power-sharing deal

Read this part

"
Sources familiar with the meetings that hammered out the deal revealed the alliance’s line-up will see the winner of the nominations become the presidential flag-bearer and the runner-up his running mate and alliance's choice of Deputy President in case of victory. The agreement which the NASA co-principals met last night to discuss following fears it had leaked and had caused jitters within some party's key supporters, requires that in victory, a NASA president exercises power of executive decree to create the office of Chief Minister.

The alliance would then seek a constitutional amendment to transform the office of Chief Minister into that of Prime Minister as it was under the Grand Coalition Government between 2008-2013."

Kenya had not failed in "some aspects" of inequality, Kenya is on the rise when it come on inequality. Rich people (which are only 1%) are getting richer by day. Poor are continuing to be marginalized, with fail land reform, fail wealth redistribution, fail political representation (because Kenya politics is for "the elite"). While you think that African socialism so called Ujamaa had failed, this is why Tanzania had score 33 points on inequality while Kenya is at 50. Arusha declaration was 50 years old two weeks ago, and [[HASHTAG]#arushadeclaration[/HASHTAG]] was trending on UK twitter list. Edinburgh university had a long workshop discussing all the good the bad and the ugly of Ujamaa together with Nyerere legacy. Tanzanian problem's are easy to tackle thanks to that Ujamaa, if is land, if is natural resources, if Is wealth redistribution, poverty eradication, you name it. Now let do the same in Kenya on land, on poverty, on wealth. You'll realise its easy is to move the mountain than to reforms Kenya because of vast self interests as you've read on beginning if this thread.

I have reason to goubt the Nationality of this guy. Ebu atuambie anatoka wapi.
criticizing a country does not mean that I dont come from it....I am Kenyan by blood...a patriot infact...however, there are alot of things i dont like about our country....particularly corruption and exploitation...i am simply airing my voice to be heard for the brighter future of my people....I uderstand your sentiments though....Kenyans are so criticized by Tanzanians here on JF such that when you see a thread opened by someone saying negative things abt Kenya you quickly dismiss the thread opener as a Danganyikan....
